The Australian launch was a bit wobbly. The local distributer tripped over themselves with regards to warranty and service schedules but everyone appears happy with the cars. I have a couple interviews with owners on my channel -
PS: I'm a Gen 1 ZS EV owner :)
It's great to see these companies in the UK provide charging in their carparks. We don't have Lidl, but do have Aldi and they don't provide anything. Very few of the other supermarkets here do either. So hats off, even if time limit is 90 mins. 👍☀️🔋
As suggested by others. Use a high quality extension lead between your power outlet and the granny and ensure you use waterproof locking cover if outdoors.
Also consider a lead joint locking accessory if in a location where someone might disconnect the lead under full load. Enjoy.
Best EVSE is the one which suits your needs. Up until recently I have only used the granny. Recently though I got the Fronius Wattpilot Go as I travel a lot and have a large home solar system.
Various different ways to do it, Depends on your budget, current house infrastructure/wiring, use case, type of EV you have etc.etc. Really is a horses for courses.
Check out my video below. Windows and lack of UV protection on Mag's from the factory is poor. A good quality film and install though and the MG is transformed. 👍
MG just dropped their basic price for the 2nd Gen ZS EV to just under the BYD Atto 3. Both EVs have their pro's & cons. My latest video on my channel has first review of the Atto 3 and makes some comparisons with the ZS.
Electric Car Australia - BYD Atto 3 v ZS
How's the HyperVolt performing? Do you use it to only charge by solar PV by any chance? That's a key benefit I'm looking for? Tossing up if the App control is better or "on charger" like Zappi.
Hi Siatbury, Congrats on the new EV and dont worry about delay in fixed home charger install. We have the portable charger (EVSE) and it's been working fine for nearly 2 years now, our usage doesn't need the expense of having a charger installed. Just make sure you have good wiring and socket...
Congrats on the new purchase! I done a video on Accessories for the first gen ZS EV including mats, genuine parts so should be same as UK. We're in Australia so cant comment on cables as we would be different wholesalers here.
Not sure about the UK but here in Australia the electricity Network owners won't currently allow this. It's being looked at by some but I think will be a few years away over here. V2L is obviously possible if your car has the capability or you do a DIY upgrade. Cheers.
Yes, 22kW 3 phase cable will cover all bases. Even though ZSEV can only handle 7kW the 22 will future proof if you get another EV with larger capacity AV charging. Keep in mind the 22 is a heavier/ bulkier cable if that is of concern. Enjoy your EV. 👍
