Just a message for non UK people - UK has today gone into daylight saving time (BST or UTC+1) - so one hour earlier if you dont change your clocks the same time as we do. 😉

The reason for not connecting onto the negative side of dead battery is if that battery is faulty, it might explode. Thats why a grounding bolt is suggested.
I've misplaced my multimeter, but there is a metel bolt next to the battery. If that is grounded then I would connect there (i cant check...
Not directly onto the engine. There should be a mounting point somewhere near-ish to the 12v, Page 243 of the manual states:
1. Connect the RED booster cable between the positive (+) terminals of both batteries. Connect the BLACK booster cable from the negative (-) terminal of the donor battery...
Factory version depends when the car is made. So if made in July, the car will be pre-loaded BMS that can do timed charge but not charge when unlocked. On PDI, the dealer should update to the lastest version available on the workshops laptop, which at moment is the same early BMS as 'newer' BMSs...
