    Since Golf mk 5 space saver spares fit, would aftermarket Golf mk 5 specced alloys fit? Oh, and the wheel bolts, once changed for VW pattern heads, would mean spare and main wheels would all be matched. Mind you, I've always liked these:

    Jonathan reckoned the jack worked fine. Diligent searching on EBay will often throw up a Golf (or Passat) spare complete with insert and tools. I got mine there for fifty quid, delivered. Check out my post #52, back one page in this thread

    Update: the spare (unused) arrived, complete with VW foam insert, jack, towing eye AND the VW retaining bolt. The foam insert needed a little surgery to accommodate the MG towing eye. The wheel nut cover slotted neatly into an unused slot. The spanner fitted another unused slot with a little...

    Got a Golf mkV spacesaver spare, complete with the foam insert, jack, wrench, etc, on its way to me for £50, delivered. I think the insert might need surgery but we'll see.the jack looks the same as the one on my old Passat, which was actually pretty good.
