    MG ZS EV Rubbish

I don't know about the ZS specifically, but that sounds ridiculous. Many if not most people go on holiday for more than a week every year, leaving the car behind. Certainly in the MG4 forum many people have left their cars at airports and parked at home for several weeks with no issues. The car...

Sudden loss of range from 25% SoC in ZS Excite

The suspicion has been raised. Given that the OP has not returned to the thread to explain further, and serious questions have been raised about the accuracy of the original account, I'm locking this thread. If the OP would like to discuss the incident further in good faith, he is invited to...

Sudden loss of range from 25% SoC in ZS Excite

Yes, that last is something I have read about in a number of places. I think it applies to most EVs, although I have heard Tesla owners reporting that their scale is linear. It doesn't seem to me to be a very noticeable effect. I'm not sure how long the ZS has been out, but I'm reading about...

Sudden loss of range from 25% SoC in ZS Excite

Well, that would be because I didn't know that. Although I was slightly surprised that the "Excite" model name was used because it's not used for the MG4 in Britain. @fred12345 seemed to indicate that something similar had happened to him though, although the car didn't give up on him. Is the...

Sudden loss of range from 25% SoC in ZS Excite

When you say you drove the car, it wasn't yours then? You don't know how the battery had been managed? That sudden drop after 25% is something I have never experienced. My MG4 never misses a beat, the range goes down exactly as you'd expect from the way you're driving it - I had it down to 7%...

How to turn OFF the lights while AC and power is on????

This has been discussed in one or two threads now, notably with reference to sleeping in the car with the heating/aircon on, and as far as I know nobody has come up with a solution. A good few months ago a member joined asking specifically about this issue - apparently Teslas have a "camp mode"...

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

What actually killed it was overpressure in the restricted space between the skin of the plane and the "inside walls". This caused the skin of the plane to peel open. The AAIB report is quite fascinating when it discusses this unexpected phenomenon and whether it could have been prevented. I...

Still a big question as to whether the Lockerbie bomb really should have caused the mid-air disintegration of a 747 Jumbo Jet. It basically peeled open like an orange.

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

By the Mail and the Sun? Probably enough to make it worth their while. And people who've looked into Brian's online history have found evidence of him making up stories. Also weird that he came here, posted once in a very hostile manner but didn't stay to explain what he thought happened and see...

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

Someone in another thread suggested it might be worse in EVs because you don't get the cue of the change in engine noise when you floor the accelerator. Which could be true, but as you say, it has happened in automatic ICE cars. It's good to know about this, because at least if it seems to be...

I see the bold boy Brian also features in this knocking copy from the Guardian. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/oct/29/uk-drivers-make-claims-of-incredibly-scary-malfunctions-with-electric-cars The proliferation of these stories is inevitably going to lead to people who have had...

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

There's a thread about this in General Chat, because someone started a derail about it in an entirely different thread when someone else mentioned the Dolphin, and it was split off. https://www.mgevs.com/threads/byd-dolphin-reports-of-battery-fires-in-china.13980/ Some decent debunking towards...

MG ZS EV USB Music Folders

The MG4 SE is the same, but the Trophy supports folders. There is nothing in the manual to suggest this is intentional and I'm certain it's a bug/oversight. I think the more people complain about it the more chance of getting it fixed in a software upgrade.

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

I had a friend who was absolutely convinced that if an EV driver wanted to drive beyond the range of his car, he had to take a hotel room and charge the car overnight. When I said no, I drove all the way to Brighton (from Scotland) in a day with three 30-45 minute charging stops, he showed me an...

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

I do have a tangentially-related story. One fine afternoon I cleaned my bike. Pedal cycle, I mean. Gave it a good wash down with soapy water and a soft brush. Then I had the indescribably stupid idea of riding it to the top of the cul-de-sac where I lived and back to dry it a bit, before putting...

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

It's odd that Brian hasn't returned after that first post. If he offered some explanation for the odder aspects of his story it would go a long way to calm scepticism. Like that article linked above, I find his decision to phone his wife in the first instance and ask her to come out (presumably...

It may be he always uses that picture on forums. I created my avatar when I joined because I always use this picture and it makes my posts easier to pick out. But if it isn't his Facebook picture and it's 15 years old, that's odd.

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

Just on the subject of "it's on the BBC so it must be true." Some years ago there was a "clickbait" type story from Helensburgh, the perennial "black panther" narrative. This allegedly enormous black cat had been seen on the outskirts of the town prowling along a railway line. Several times...
