Yep, same here, not long now before the "big sky candle" is enough alone to charge the house batteries without the need for an overnight charge - though even then it's only 40p to charge the batteries (4.8kWh) ... :ROFLMAO:

For sure the charging infrastructure is holding back total conversion to EVs, but that will get better over time.

Hmmmn ... smart meter worked perfectly for 365 days, then, on the day the Ohme Pro is installed it suddenly stops working ... seems an unlikely coincidence, no?

IHD I mean ... tried resetting it multiple times, just says "waiting to connect" ...

Had Ohme Pro installed yesterday morning and just after the technician left noticed the smart meter monitor (IHD) had stopped working ... "waiting to connect" on screen indefinitely. What could he have done in the meter box to cause this? It's all beyond my understanding.

Sure, but if you compare apples to apples ... e.g. I did the sums on a Tweet comparing a new ICE Corsa v EV Corsa, total cost of ownership over 10 years and the EV was cheaper. Sorry I no longer have the sums, gave up on Twitter a long time ago. Of course it's not just about cost for a lot of...

Yep, "best-case" and not always achievable but if you drive carefully* - with minimal aircon/heating - it's quite easy to get 4miles/kWh average over the year (more in summer, less in winter). Charging at home with a cheap overnight tariff etc** is also key. * by carefully I mean not full beans...

I counter your worst-case scenario with a best-case one ... ;) If you got 4miles/kWh in an EV (which I am getting right now in 'winter') then 150 miles a week would use 37.5kWh. At a cheap rate of 9p per kWh (available on Octopus Go) that would be £3.37 a week x 4.3 weeks (30 days) = £14.51 a...

Get yourself an EV and save yourself £250 a month ;)

The thing is, as with most things in life, if you can afford the initial outlay it actually saves you money … mortgage is cheaper than rent, EV is cheaper than ICE … but if you can’t afford the deposit/outlay it’s a moot point 🤷‍♂️
