My plan all along was to keep this until 6 years old, should be about 35k miles by then - and likely the soon to be revised model Y (or possibly Polestar) will be 3 years old and loads coming off lease deals to pick up for £20k. Unless there is an evolutionary upgrade to EV tech in the meantime 🤷♂️
Hope this works - I’m trying to get a dealer response about what I’m booked in for.
Arnold Clark just told me 3 hours labour & a new part in addition to the software update - which would ultimately invalidate my warranty. Wish there was some consistency in the message they’re all giving.
I spoke to the Service Manager on 18th March about this, car booked in for 11th June. They said update wasn’t specified to resolve Tesla issue but also didn’t mention any cost involved.
Only found this thread today - my dealer mentioned that the update wasn’t confirmed by MG to fix the Tesla charging issue, but I’ve got my pre-FL LR booked in for early June anyway. Just in time for summer holiday driving.
Did it to my Grand CMax - but it was an accessory kit (part of the Family Pack along with tinted windows) so had instructions for torque settings, etc.
Suspect the body of all MG5 cars have the holes in place? Can’t say I’ve ever looked at an Excite model though 🤷♂️
Again, the Ford was easy...
The part number for the official MG bars (Mont Blanc brand?) is the same for the MG5 and ZS EV. So, if looking for alternatives you can filter on ZS if MG5 not listed.
I’ve had the opposite height issue/advantage coming from a Ford Grand CMax - the MG5 is much lower so can get into some car parks - but yeah, 1.9m will be tight depending on your set up.
I’ve had mine since previous car - both bars and box were AutoExpress category winners. Likely superseded now. Still working well though.

There is a recall which adds an addendum to the manual for SR, stating an updated rating of 35kg. The LR has a 75kg rating.

I drove 280 from Glasgow to North Wales at the start of July & back again mid July. Car fully loaded and had a 510 litre box on the roof.
I got about 3.5 miles/kWh sitting at 65 on ACC using Eco and Kers 1 - pretty much the same both directions.
Contrasting that to a 60 mile motorway journey...
Definitely don’t lose traction as easily on damp surfaces - especially when pulling from junctions but will still scrabble for grip at low speed if too much throttle.
I didn’t do a lot of miles in the OEM set but they’re not something I would ever have chosen to fit myself. They’re definitely a...
I bought a windscreen reflector thingy as all the other windows are tinted - it doesn't necessarily keep the inside temperature cooler but stops direct sunlight from heating the seats. Trick is remembering to put it up 🤷♂️
Side window tint looks darker than actually are due to black interior...
I went for 4 x Michelin CrossClimate 2 205/60 R16 V (96) from Black Circles back in September after getting the car - covered about 5.5k miles and definitely got more grip that OEM tyres. I went for the 'V' rating to match the original EP422 but don't imagine you'll exceed the limits of an 'H'...
I tried again today - failed again. Message was 'Update package is invalid.'
I'm going to stop trying now - I very rarely use the built in SatNav, always opt for Apple CarPlay instead. I've got more to lose than gain by attempting this any more.
Mine goes into KERS3 at all battery levels - before and after this update. Sometimes the regen feels less, usually when battery full or perhaps when cold - but display always shows '3' when I select it.
This thread is part of the MG5 forum - a model which does not have the USB port you mention. It’s possible the facelift MG5 will gain this (similar to your facelift ZS), but just now it needs wired into the fusebox.
