EV opposition in the media is ramping up

The EV opposition is part of the natural process of tech evolution. not to be taken too seriously - except that it is! happily it is part of dragging EV prices down which I personally very much welcome.

ScottishPower EV Tariff using granny charging only?

That's the way to do it. My new build house will be similar .

    Insurance renewal problems?

Not usually possible in a write off situation - also one wants the job done properly unless it's another ding on an old banger

    Insurance renewal problems?

Would point out that this is a general issue linked to inflation = my ICE Mazda 3's insurance went up by 50% this year. But the insurance industry will analyse EV accident repair costs and establish premiums accordingly.

    Trade In price!

Dealers want/need £4k/5k margin on every sale - so their quote is not too outlandish given the recent depreciation history of EVs

    Another EV advantage

Here in Leatherhead EV parking allows 4hrs parking and 35p/kWh costs. Pretty decent deal.

France seems to be driving demands for this inquiry worried that the Chinese will clean up on the back of European energy measures.

Low mileage 21/22 Mazda MX-30's down to £15k/£16k

These cars being savaged by depreciation due to their stupidly low range capabilities . But for a local use 2nd car requirement might these represent good value?

Rather disorderly new Transit E market? - £19k + vat discounts

Good points about the range issues. Even at say 150 mile range , I don't think this is adequate for a camper

Rather disorderly new Transit E market? - £19k + vat discounts

Quite a well thought of van it seemed. big discounts on offer. Wondering if a V2L equipped model could be a good camper project vehicle having a cabinet maker pal who has done some nice conversions.

    Any better overnight tariffs?

I agree that a more typical load profile would be more useful. Also quoting figures to 9 decimal places is positively unhelpful.

G.M to make all their E.Vs bidirectional

Yes the potential for EVs to do this is vitally important but not being adequately planned for.

G.M to make all their E.Vs bidirectional

Quite. Big disputes in California about this. And here, one reason that our standing charges are high and will remain high.

G.M to make all their E.Vs bidirectional

"General Motors said Tuesday that it planned to equip all its electric cars and trucks with the ability to act as backup power supplies during blackouts. The decision to install two-way charging technology in Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC electric cars and trucks, enabling them to power homes in...

Woeful Government Progress on Nationwide Charger Installation

From The Times "The government wants 300,000 public charge points to be installed nationwide by 2030 but progress has been slow. Figures from the Department for Transport (DfT) show that 3,870 chargers were installed in the three months to July, bringing the total to 44,020 across the UK. At...

    Charging at motorway service stations

My local councils Mole Valley DC and Surrey CC are doing well in terms of installing chargers - but not sure of the kWh costs. Free parking for up to 4 hrs when you charge though. Non elec car drivers rather unhappy at times. Questions about who is subsidising who. However HMG's failure to...
