From The Times

"The government wants 300,000 public charge points to be installed nationwide by 2030 but progress has been slow.

Figures from the Department for Transport (DfT) show that 3,870 chargers were installed in the three months to July, bringing the total to 44,020 across the UK.

At the current pace, just 114,640 would be installed by January 2030, with the targets met a decade later. To meet the target in time 9,845 chargers would need to be installed each quarter between now and then — a 154 per cent increase."

It seems inevitable to me that the rules on manufacturers will have to be altered to allow more hybrids to be recognised as meeting % EV targets. Otherwise we will shovel money into the pockets of the Chinese .

Afaik, "government" outside of Scotland do not install chargers so while they can push for them to be installed it's up to private enterprise to actually do it.

If you used info for 2022 in isolation it would take even longer, probably forever to reach the target. The figures for 2023 are considerably up compared to last year, and next year will be even higher. No one year can be taken on it's own unless of course you are The Times who along with the Daily Mail are enjoying creating FUD in all areas EV that they can.

Taking one set of figures and extrapolating them as if that is a constant is clearly a load of BS.

Perhaps this might provide a little bit of balance.
