They aren’t that big and heavy ;-) it’s only two extra 32A cables inside for L2 and L3, so a little thicker and heavier than the 7kW cable.

Correct — a 3 phase 32A (22kW) cable will work for 7kW (single phase 32A) on a normal wall box T home. Be careful not to buy an 11kW cable though — they do exist and I had one from Amazon which I returned! The 11kW cable will do 3 phase 16A (11kW) but when connected to a 7kW charger it will...

I did, because you get the best of both worlds. Will work at 7kW on a 7kW charger and 11kW on both 11kW and 22kW chargers. Especially if goi g abroad this can matter — imagine using a French 11kW charge point with a single phase cable, you’d only get 3.5kW (single phase 16A)!

To follow up, I can confirm definitively that the MG5 facelift can charge at 11kW — here it is on a 22kW charger using a 3 phase cable.

You’re right that it won’t work for the MG5 in the UK (MG have confirmed that there isn’t a 3 phase charger on the UK spec vehicle), but you’re also wrong that 3 phase always has to be 22kW. The EU spec MG5 has an on board 11kW charger, capable of working at 32A on one phase or 16A on three phases.

it looks like I may be wrong and only EU versions have the 11kW charger on board...let us know if you tested it ;-)

You should be getting 11kWh on a 3 phase 22kW charger; if you aren’t its because your cable only handles one phase.
