brake
A brake is a mechanical device that inhibits motion by absorbing energy from a moving system. It is used for slowing or stopping a moving vehicle, wheel, axle, or to prevent its motion, most often accomplished by means of friction.
My MG4 Trophy Long Range has just been recovered by The AA to take to the dealer. They performed a "suspended" tow with the rear wheels on the towing mechanism.
Not long after they left my property I got two SMS messages with following:
The brake system of your vehicle (***444) has triggered an...
To see when the brake lights operate under regeneration, I unclipped the high level brake light so I could watch it in the mirror whilst driving.
At Level 1 with gentle deceleration, it hardly comes on. Level 2 only when you suddenly decelerate and Level 3 more often as you would expect.
I...
Have an MG4 coming up to 12 months old, 16000 miles. It's developed a clunking noise from the rear passenger wheel when either accelerating (forward or reverse) or when applying the brakes to slow down. Intermittent so not all the time but enough that it is noticeable. Booked in to dealership in...
Does anyone know which of the 2 P's on the centre consul of the new HS Phev is the ' hand brake' and which initiates the parking stud in the transmission.? Thanks in advance.
Hi if you drive your EV short or long drives and always use the high settings on regen or 1 pedal driving , turn it off on 1 in every 5 or 6 journeys so the normal braking systems get a bit of use and service. Alot of EVs have electric parking brakes and some EVs get little use so they tend to...
Hi everyone booked my MG3 Hybrid in for it's first fault at 6 weeks since I bought the car there's been an annoying vibration rattle over bumpy roads I noticed today that the cover which covers the high level brake light is loose moving left to right and up and down I don't think they believed...
Hello all, I’m new to this forum although since I collected my new MG3 hybrid I’ve read some interesting articles here. One of which I believe was never definitely answered and that is when using regen3 the car slows rapidly enough to warrant the illumination of the brake lights. The answer was...
Two weeks ago my MG5 stopped working completely with steering lock activated. This is how the problem got resolved...
On a 20 minute drive across my city, I noticed that the rear windscreen washer spray was not shooting up high enough, but thought nothing of it. Due to severe congestion the...
Further to past discussions about brake lights coming on under Regen braking:
I was following a Skoda EV yesterday and I’m pretty sure that only his two outer brake lights were flashing off and on as he lifted his foot, then accelerated. Coming to a complete stop at traffic lights, all the...
"Windscreen reservoir service" - Is this new main dealer bolloxspeak?
I had my ZS EV in for it's service this week and after paying £300.02, I looked over the receipt and asked exactly what they'd done.
He said they'd performed a visual inspection, increased the level of the brake fluid and...
What is the action, interaction and difference between the EPB, Auto hold and HHC - do they all effectively apply the parking brake and release it under the right circumstances or do so in different ways?
Hi
I'm looking for the part number for OUTER BRAKE LIGHT PASSENGER SIDE N/S LEFT SIDE for MG5 SW EV 2020.
Or if anyone has a suggestion where I can purchase one that would be great also. I have looked all over the place but can't seem to source one.
Many thanks
Wanted to ask if anyone has any recommendations for upgrading the Discs & Pads - stock ones are good but noticeably struggling under harder braking.
How would I confirm their sizes and would any disc of that size for the MG4 di, or do you need specific ones?
Had my 45,000 mile third service done today and when booking it in they tried to get me to pay £40 for brake pipe cleaning to prevent future corrosion 🤷. I asked if this would include stripping down and greasing the brakes and they said no.
While it was being serviced they called to say it...
Having read recent posts about the availability of (or lack of) MG4 brake pads, I see GSF car parts have these listed. I entered my reg for a Trophy ER and it shows these as being compatible. I assume the picture is a generic btw. Certainly a much better price than the £260 Brown & gammons want!
