Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a 2015 action-adventure stealth video game developed and published by Konami. Directed, written, and designed by Hideo Kojima (as his final work at Konami), it is the ninth installment in the Metal Gear franchise, following Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, a stand-alone prologue released the previous year. Set in 1984, nine years after the events of Ground Zeroes, the story follows mercenary leader Punished "Venom" Snake as he ventures into Soviet-occupied Afghanistan and the Angola–Zaire border region to exact revenge on those who destroyed his forces and came close to killing him during the climax of Ground Zeroes.
The game is played from a third-person perspective in an open world which can be explored either on foot or by modes of transport. Snake can use a wide repertoire of weapons and items and receive assistance from several AI companions, allowing the player to combat enemies either stealthily or directly. Enemy soldiers and resources found in the world can be transported to Snake's headquarters, allowing for its expansion and the development of further technology. The game includes two separate multiplayer modes, Metal Gear Online (also known as Metal Gear Online 3) and Forward Operating Bases (FOBs); the latter mode allows players to develop FOBs, which can then be invaded by other players.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 1, 2015. It received critical acclaim, with praise for its gameplay, open world, graphics, themes, and performances. Its narrative and certain changes to the series formula divided critics, while the appearance of the character Quiet drew criticism. The game's repeated missions, ending, and evidence of removed content led some to label it unfinished. The Phantom Pain shipped 6 million units by December 2015. It received several awards and is considered to be one of the greatest stealth games of all time. Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience, a bundle that includes both The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes, along with all additional content for both games, was released in October 2016.

    40 miles of range 'lost'

From early November, when we picked up our S5, up to Christmas, we had a predicted range of approx 285 miles for SoC 100% (220 miles for SoC of 80%). Since Christmas, our range has dropped to approx 242 miles at !00% SoC (195 miles at 80% SoC). So I thought "Time to give it a balancing charge"...

MGS5 EV up to the front seats boot liner

Rhino Boot Liners, although they haven't got it on their website yet, do have the measurements for the MGS5 to manufacture a boot liner that goes up to the front seats. It comes with a flap to protect the lip of the boot so muddy dog's feet don't scratch the paintwork. They are made to order...

    Tailgate closing issue

So, this morning I opened my tailgate by swinging my foot under the car as usual. Once finshed I swung my foot under the car again to close it. It beeped at me twice and refused to move! 12V Battery: FLA or AGM?

My special thanks to @Joningy for pointing out that his 12V battery, is in fact an FLA. And apologies to everyone for my naivety; I had assumed that in 2025, all ev manufacturers had stopped using FLA and were either using AGM or lithium technology. I was nearly right, but MG have stuck with...

Hello everyone, I have just received my MGS5 EV in Trophy spec 3 days ago. It’s my first EV after ten years of driving a RR Evoque (lovely design but a shoddy build) and so far I am very very impressed. A quick question. Is there a way to ensure that the front facing camera activates when...

Replacement 12V auxiliary battery for MGS5

I've searched long and hard to try to find a decent quality replacement 12 volt auxiliary battery for my troubled MGS5 with zero success. How long does the car stay 'on' when you don't lock it?

Quite often I don't bother locking the car after I get out (we have a private drive on a quiet road). I take the key with me inside, which is out of range of the car. Not Great Economy

Hi Had the S5 for around 3 months now after replacing ZS EV. Enjoying the car but the economy is worse than the ZS by a margin. Getting 2.8 miles/kWh. Phantom Bike Spotted by ACC - Caused Severe Braking on Motorway

I've used the ACC quite a lot on my S5 Trophy and generally like it, it's pretty good at leaving appropriate (adjustable) distance and smooth slowing when someone cuts you up etc, but this is new and a bit weird.
