Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a 2015 action-adventure stealth video game developed and published by Konami. Directed, written, and designed by Hideo Kojima (as his final work at Konami), it is the ninth installment in the Metal Gear franchise, following Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, a stand-alone prologue released the previous year. Set in 1984, nine years after the events of Ground Zeroes, the story follows mercenary leader Punished "Venom" Snake as he ventures into Soviet-occupied Afghanistan and the Angola–Zaire border region to exact revenge on those who destroyed his forces and came close to killing him during the climax of Ground Zeroes.
The game is played from a third-person perspective in an open world which can be explored either on foot or by modes of transport. Snake can use a wide repertoire of weapons and items and receive assistance from several AI companions, allowing the player to combat enemies either stealthily or directly. Enemy soldiers and resources found in the world can be transported to Snake's headquarters, allowing for its expansion and the development of further technology. The game includes two separate multiplayer modes, Metal Gear Online (also known as Metal Gear Online 3) and Forward Operating Bases (FOBs); the latter mode allows players to develop FOBs, which can then be invaded by other players.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 1, 2015. It received critical acclaim, with praise for its gameplay, open world, graphics, themes, and performances. Its narrative and certain changes to the series formula divided critics, while the appearance of the character Quiet drew criticism. The game's repeated missions, ending, and evidence of removed content led some to label it unfinished. The Phantom Pain shipped 6 million units by December 2015. It received several awards and is considered to be one of the greatest stealth games of all time. Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience, a bundle that includes both The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes, along with all additional content for both games, was released in October 2016.

    July S5 deals

What is MG’s rationale for these massive discounts on the S5? £24,000 for the Trophy LR is bonkers. It’s receiving mostly positive reviews, but it really damages the model’s used values.

    1st Big Day

I had my first extended day in the S5 LR today and it relieved me of some of my range anxiety. For those familiar with the south of the UK, I had to drive from Biggin Hill to Cambridge, to a village near Ware, to Acton and back to BH. A total of 184 miles. I have only owned an EV for a couple...

    Mirror sound

Hello everyone, I'm almost at the end of the process of purchasing an MGS5. I was recently at the dealership and tested two Trophy version cars, which have folding mirrors that close automatically. I noticed a strange noise – an audible click on the driver's side when the mirror opens. In...

    Map Updates for MGS5

Hi I note in the manual the Navigation says it accepts USB map updates. I had a look on google but can't find anywhere how to obtain map data files for the MGS5. There is a toolbox for some models but S5 isn't listed. Does anyone know where / how we get updates for maps on the MGS5 EV? John

Question: Trophy Sat Nav - should it do online searches?

I have been used to the old MG4 Trophy for the past 2 years, where I can enter a location/company name into the sat nav search, and it would come back with the address and correctly route there. The MGS5 does not seem to do this - instead offering random roads in Europe that may match the...

    Stupid new key

OK, so who else is annoyed with the stupid new key shape, and emergency mechanical key? By having this all separate and just dangling on your keyring it is liable for loss and to damage the plastic chrome and shiny bits of the new key shape. I have opened the key up, to see if there was space...

    Customer service - regeneration braking

I have been driving the MGS5 EV lux long range for a week now. I love driving the car. And it's a fun car to drive too. Very good handling and brakes. Nice comfort. Spacious, with a good view of the traffic situation. There isn't a lot of unnecessary numbers everywhere on the display...

    Phone Holder

Has anyone found a good solution for a phone holder? I had a air vent one in the old Audi, which was great, but I have yet to see a sensible way of putting one on the S5. I'd like it between my right hand and the offside door mirror.

    2000 mile review

So had the MGS5 for two months and now 2000 miles. The below is pedantic in places but my summary is overall I do enjoy and like the car. Short review; Great economy vs the MG4. Nice to drive some MG4 bugs/quirks remain in the software. Longer review; Economy is at least 5% better per Kwh...
