Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a 2015 action-adventure stealth video game developed and published by Konami. Directed, written, and designed by Hideo Kojima (as his final work at Konami), it is the ninth installment in the Metal Gear franchise, following Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, a stand-alone prologue released the previous year. Set in 1984, nine years after the events of Ground Zeroes, the story follows mercenary leader Punished "Venom" Snake as he ventures into Soviet-occupied Afghanistan and the Angola–Zaire border region to exact revenge on those who destroyed his forces and came close to killing him during the climax of Ground Zeroes.
The game is played from a third-person perspective in an open world which can be explored either on foot or by modes of transport. Snake can use a wide repertoire of weapons and items and receive assistance from several AI companions, allowing the player to combat enemies either stealthily or directly. Enemy soldiers and resources found in the world can be transported to Snake's headquarters, allowing for its expansion and the development of further technology. The game includes two separate multiplayer modes, Metal Gear Online (also known as Metal Gear Online 3) and Forward Operating Bases (FOBs); the latter mode allows players to develop FOBs, which can then be invaded by other players.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 1, 2015. It received critical acclaim, with praise for its gameplay, open world, graphics, themes, and performances. Its narrative and certain changes to the series formula divided critics, while the appearance of the character Quiet drew criticism. The game's repeated missions, ending, and evidence of removed content led some to label it unfinished. The Phantom Pain shipped 6 million units by December 2015. It received several awards and is considered to be one of the greatest stealth games of all time. Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience, a bundle that includes both The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes, along with all additional content for both games, was released in October 2016.

    2000 mile review

So had the MGS5 for two months and now 2000 miles. The below is pedantic in places but my summary is overall I do enjoy and like the car. Short review; Great economy vs the MG4. Nice to drive some MG4 bugs/quirks remain in the software. Longer review; Economy is at least 5% better per Kwh...

    Wireless charging not very good

How is everyone getting on with the wireless charging pad. Unsure if it's my phone oneplus12, or it's just not good or working properly. The issue is the phone keeps switching on and off to say its charging, but actually just overheats and actually runs down the battery level. I never used it...

    Hill Descent Control

I am lucky enough to live in the hills of the North Downs of Kent. That means that I am going up and down fairly steep hills. Indeed, my home, the eponymous Biggin Hill, is surrounded on three sides by steep descents. Turning HDC on and off is a multi-button nightmare, not something to be...

    SatNav Comparison

Hi All, I'm a new MGS5 owner, but have a fairly basic question for the more experienced users. My car comes with SatNav built in and also Android Auto and was unsure whether I should just stick with MG SatNav or look to use one via my phone. Looking for opinions/experiences from other users...

How does the 12V charger work?

Anyone have any info on how the 12V charger works? The manual says it "intelligently" keeps the 12V battery topped up, but doesn't go into detail. I'm just wondering how well it works with a dashcam in parking mode. Can I leave it on full power, recording video for hours while I'm parked away...

MGS5 Daytime Running Lights power down when in Park

Had a bit of a moment today when I stepped out of the car whilst in Ready mode and found that the DRLs were not illuminated. After a bit of head scratching, I reviewed some security camera footage of me pulling onto my driveway and found that they were fully functional. The penny then dropped...

    Where is IP coming from?

This may be a stupid question, but I have the car eSIM connected to the world of IP and my iPhone is connected to the car both by cable and WiFi.* My Vodafone SIM has unlimited data, whereas I understand that the eSIM is limited to 1Gb. How can I be sure that if, for example, I watch YouTube...

Detailed Look at the Dash, Driver Display and Steering Wheel Functions

As the .pdf owners manual on the MGS5 provides so little information about the infotainment system, this might be helpful . . . or like us early owners, you can just spend hours playing with all the settings.
