pre-heater relay

A **pre-heater relay** is an electrical switch, commonly used in diesel engines, that controls the power supply to the glow plugs during engine start-up. It allows high current from the battery to flow to the glow plugs for a set period, heating them to aid fuel ignition in cold conditions, and then switches off once pre-heating is complete.
