speed
In everyday use and in kinematics, the speed (commonly referred to as v) of an object is the magnitude of the change of its position over time or the magnitude of the change of its position per unit of time; it is thus a scalar quantity. The average speed of an object in an interval of time is the distance travelled by the object divided by the duration of the interval; the instantaneous speed is the limit of the average speed as the duration of the time interval approaches zero. Speed is the magnitude of velocity (a vector), which indicates additionally the direction of motion.
Speed has the dimensions of distance divided by time. The SI unit of speed is the metre per second (m/s), but the most common unit of speed in everyday usage is the kilometre per hour (km/h) or, in the US and the UK, miles per hour (mph). For air and marine travel, the knot is commonly used.
The fastest possible speed at which energy or information can travel, according to special relativity, is the speed of light in vacuum c = 299792458 metres per second (approximately 1079000000 km/h or 671000000 mph). Matter cannot quite reach the speed of light, as this would require an infinite amount of energy. In relativity physics, the concept of rapidity replaces the classical idea of speed.
I know there have been several posts about the warning sounds that the MG3 makes, in particular speed camera warnings with some people saying they get several warnings way before they have reached the camera.
Well my MG3 is different to this and in some ways worse.
It give a single bong...
I was charging today, and only got up to about 3.5 kW. Now I'm pretty sure this was because I was sharing the charger with another EV, but it got me thinking; does your BYO cable matter?
On Amazon they sell all these different cables for different kW ratings (7, 11, 22) and 1 phase or 3 phase...
I have an MG4 trophy long range. This morning, I started my car but found that my headlights were not available, then, everytime I selected speed recognision on, it kept tripping off. To cap it all, I could not activate my cruise control.
After getting to my destination I locked the car. When I...
Remember the dark old days of chargers being broken, needing a multitude of apps (still true actually!) chargers out of use, playing 'hunt' the charger?
Well those days are truly behind us, aren't they?
Couldn't be easier if you are charging at home obviously, and even out and about there now...
Anyone run their XP at at any UK drag strip? Can't find any videos on youtube.
Thinking I may pop along to grab my fastest all time 1/4. My current fastest is 13.8s which was actually in my Leon Cupra, not actually the most powerful car I've had there
This topic was being discussed in another post about dynamic cruise control and traffic sign recognition but I think it needs a separate thread. I have found that using the intelligent speed limiter appears to disable the brake regeneration. I have the regeneration always set to 3, so perhaps it...
Is there any way for a UK MG3 Hybrid to display km/h on drivers display?
When I cross the border into Éire the car cannot read any speed signs correctly as it still shows miles per hour on the cluster. My last car had a dual display which was great.
Travelling down the A45 in a 60 mph zone just before Birmingham Airport there is a slip road which had 40 mph signs up.
The automatic speed limiter in my car saw the 40 mile power speed sign on the slip road and applied the brakes immediately slowing me down from 60 to 40 causing panic to the...
For love nor money I cannot work out how to activate this. It's in the manual on P179 and whatever I do upon going into the Vehicle settings it will not enable manual speed assist or Intelligent Speed Assist. Any clues?
It should work, but many times it doesn't. There are a lot of stories of it picking up the wrong speed limit from Wheelie bins with numbers on (or any sign with white lettering), side road speed limits in error. I suppose it's trying to do it's job, but on a straight major road I travel it mises...
Stopped to charge at Birmingham airport on Sunday at the 60kW (allegedly) Gridserve chargers. Peaked at 28kW and had to pay £5 for the privilege. I had thought it was a car problem but ZapMap comments showed either broken or 22kW speeds reported.
Stay away ?
I went for a drive yesterday. After about fifteen miles of driving I was at sixty mph and I happened to notice I was istill n ev mode. That seems remarkably high. Any comments
The ACC starts to brake heavily whenever there is even a slight bend on the motorway which is really annoying!
Is there anyway to fix a speed and keep at that speed?
I understand if there’s a car up front and it slows down because of this but even the smallest of bends leads to the car braking.
Have you also noticed that the ACTUAL speed of the mg3 on the speedo is almost the same as the speed recorded on the GPS?
It's the first time a car hasn't left a margin ... very useful for avoiding speed camera fines.
In the driver's manual the diagram showing the navigation screen indicates that the national road speed shows as an Icon in the bottom corner i.e. 30mph etc., on my screen this corner is blank and I cant find any information on how to get this to show.
Secondly on a recent drive having set a...
Have a nice evening,
on the French user manual (page 43 or 41 on the English manual for the symbol and 226 for the explanations), there are 2 symbols indicating that there is constant cruise control. Symbol identical to acc but without the car (on the dashboard).
but when intelligent driving is...

I know lots has been said about "granny chargers" but I can't seem to find an answer to my specific question.
I'm getting an MG4 on our salary sacrifice scheme from work. First EV so it will be a huge change for me. I will be mainly "granny charging" at home and I'll fast charge at work. My...
