A proper TV program about EV's tonight on Channel 5.

Totally one sided, not one EV driver canvassed for their views or whether they would go back to ICE.
The closest they came to was to say that second hand prices were affordable now for EV's. Unfortunately the programme was made a few months ago and doesn't take into account recent trends to EV's.
It's good to see though the programme is available on the 5 streaming platform until 2030...ironic really!

For some balance here is the Electrifying team fact checking some eeejit on a daytime TV show. Why they didn't have them on the show in the first place is the question

Was just about to say this.
Most people only know this part of the story;

“With the greatest vigor he commanded that his chair should be set on the shore, when the tide began to rise. And then he spoke to the rising sea saying “You are part of my dominion, and the ground that I am seated upon is mine, nor has anyone disobeyed my orders with impunity. Therefore, I order you not to rise onto my land, nor to wet the clothes or body of your Lord.”
(Henry of Huntingdon, Historia Anglorum)

Which is why it has become a metaphor for someone foolish enough to believe they can prevent the inevitable.

As Rolfe kindly pointed out, there is a second part;

“But the sea carried on rising as usual without any reverence for his person, and soaked his feet and legs. Then he moving away said: “All the inhabitants of the world should know that the power of kings is vain and trivial, and that none is worthy of the name of king but He whose command the heaven, earth and sea obey by eternal laws”.
(Henry of Huntingdon, Historia Anglorum)

Which doesn't make such a good metaphor for stupidity. :)

Any hoo, back to the topic; I am eagerly waiting for Stop Burning Stuff, Ben Sullins, Electrifying etc to post their debunking videos.

I note that that video is well over two years old. January 2023 to be precise. They say something about "early days, but this should be up and running by 2025", and also reference the Tesla queue at Tebay, which happened at New Year 2023. So things have moved on a bit!

I admit that I was part of the non-Tesla queue at Tebay before Christmas in 2024, but that was mostly the result of people (including me) thinking, oh great Tebay has 16 chargers now and the food's good, so I'll just ignore all the other vacant chargers showing up on my map and head there. Not actually all that smart. And I admit that it does take me 45 minutes to get charged, but again that's my fault for buying the SR and I'm OK about it.

We should not forget that these programs are not aired to inform, they are made for profit and nothing creates profit like controversy and playing to people's predjudices.

I'm glad I didn't watch any more, it was annoying to the nth degree, what udder b@!!@€ks

Actually the credits dated it to 2022. So up-to-date then!! I have seen it before, and it was largely untrue then, so is even more rubbish this time round.

Perhaps this thread should be retitled to "An improper TV program about EVs ...".

I watched the first minute or so, up to the point where the girl/woman asked what should one do if an EV broke down completely, as if that event would be the end of the world! I'm not sure (cos I didn't watch any further) whether anyone gave her the obvious answer that she should call whichever rescue service she's a member of, just like with an ICE vehicle.
