Had my MG serviced last november. Not sure why, but decided to contact the AA to check the car was covered. It was NOT! The dealer (MG Caffyns Ashford) did not register the car. I actually left written instructions in the car at the time of service. I have contacted them and they have now registered the car!

I may write to the Dealership Principal as I have a feeling it will not go any further!

Do check you are covered AFTER a service with MG.

My dealer has been the same, at least at the 2nd service. A quick email to the service manager got it resolved.

If you can prove you've had the car serviced then the AA will accept your call-out anyway. But it's one more hassle that you don't really need in an emergency situation.

Exactly! Fortunately I checked. Hope there will never be a need to use the AA!

It is not clear how you know it has been updated unless you check with the AA?

Unless your dealer emails you to confirm (example below, after I complained about the 2nd renewal being missing) then you can only confirm via contacting the AA.

My dealer never confirmend that there was AA cover with the car. I was told, it's MG Assist. I said, should I cancel my RAC membership. Answer was something about belt and braces.

MG Assist is AA cover ... the full bhuna Roadside, Relay, Relay Plus and Home Start on a vehicle rather than personal cover basis. (I'm aware you likely know this - but this comment may help others who find this thread). :)

Having trials and tribulations with a dealer (my issues were sorted but OH battling along with their HS). Found another dealer to try, mine needs warranty work again. Spoke about the HS and the service wasn’t logged !

Naughty naughty

My car's just been serviced by an MG dealer and I'm trying to get confirmation that the AA have been informed. It's certainly worth checking and asking the dealer when booking in the car.

This page may help https://www.mg.co.uk/roadside-assistance
You can check by ringing the AA number for MG roadside assistance and asking.

Good morning. After reading this thread I have just googled " is AA cover included with the purchase of brand new MG cars" and it confirmed that it is. I have just bought a brand new MG HS PHEV and nothing was mentioned about this. Does this package still exist does anyone know?

Call 0800 072 3338 and ask them if your vehicle is covered.

Before I bought my second MG5 I phoned the AA to check it was covered, it was, which then meant it had a full MG service history.

Yes it does.

'This package will cover the vehicle for the whole of the UK (including Homestart, Roadside Assistance, Recovery and Onward Mobility cover). It’s a really comprehensive package to offer you reassurance and peace of mind. You can find more details on your cover here.'

You can find the details here, skip Google and quite simply go to the MG website. www.mg.co.uk

Click on My MG in the top banner and there are manuals, service schedules and lots of other info including of course Roadside Assistance. Poorly named as it is so much more.

Thank you very much for that information, have i read on here somewhere that new cars should have been registered with the AA by the dealership when sold or is that up to the owner?.

The dealer should do it. But there's no harm in you calling MG Assist to enquire whether yours has been registered, and if not - can they add yours there and then. :)

My dealer (Sandicliffe, Nottingham - very helpful) contacted me for feedback about my service. The AA should be informed as part of the servicing but there is no written confirmation. I have asked if the servicing documentation given to the customer could be amended to confirm the AA have been informed.

I think MG and their dealers are missing a trick here. This is a definite 'perk' of having an MG service and yet it is not widely publicized.
