Activate shut down instead of waiting 30 seconds and a loud alarm

If you switch off and remain in the car about 30 seconds later you get a loud alarm and a dash message saying Shut down now. Can I preemot this by doing it manually as soon as I switch off. This is only relevant when I remain in the car with it switched off

i've not had this. are you sure you are actually switching off the car?

Absolutely. It only happens after switch off if I stay in the car (with my key of course) I think it must keep some systems live if after switching off it still detects the presence of the key, but after 30 seconds you get the alarm and message to shut down. After you take the option to shut down I can't see anything different

I haven't experienced this, the only message I get is if I switch off the car but stay inside listening to the radio, after a few minutes the radio screen says shut down now or continue

It does give a beep and says shutting down in 9 seconds or continue

Same thing then. I just need to know if I can preempt it. The alarm is so loud when it goes off and I can't find a setting to turn the volume of it down like you can with other notifications

I haven't looked for a setting to make it quieter i don't know if muting the radio whilst sitting in the car might stop the noise

I could try that, but I don't have anything switched on at all, I think it would sound regardless

Hopefully perhaps I'm being to finicky but when you can adjust the volume of the indicators you would think you could do something with this

No you can't stop this, and its really annoying. Its been discussed on here elsewhere and no one was able to come up with a solution.

On several occassions since having the mg3 hybrid, i've come to a stop, turned off the system via the start stop button and sat there for longer than 30s and had no extra alarms, sounds bongs or alerts. Today whilst waiting at the recycling centre, I purposefully turned off the car via start/stop button, and set a timer on my watch. Over 3 mins with no prompts or sounds.

It takes about 3-5 mins for the central display screen to beep loudly, ask you if you want it shut down or continue. If continue, it happens again about every three mins. The central screen wont shut off when you press the stop button, but it also wont stay on forever if you don't lock the car.

When you switch off the car, but stay inside, the centre screen stays live doesn't it? Does yours just stay on forever as long as you sit in the car with it switched off? Or does the screen eventually switch off? The eventual switch off is when you get the beep, and a display on the screen counting down to shut down, or offering you the choice to 'shut down now', or 'continue', keeping the display live.

What does yours do if it doesn't do this?
