This is an odd title because the two topics are not related, but I didn't feel it warranted (no pun intended!) raising two threads for them.

There is a good article in February's What Car? about ADAS and Euro NCAP's plans to increase the amount of tech available in future cars.

Lane support systems, says the article, are more frequently deactivated.

Well-implemented ADAS systems don't lead to this problem.

My immediate thoughts are: if NCAP has the power to get these systems fitted to new cars, why can't they ensure that they are all "well-implemented"?

After all, the whole point of these systems is to help prevent danger, not increase it, like in the case of spurious harsh braking when the car sees something that isn't there.

There is also another interesting article in the same issue talking about manufacturers' warranties.

While MG comes out near the top of the table for warranty length, they are at the bottom of the table for "percentage fixed under warranty" and "repair costs not covered by warranty".

Well worth buying a copy (or reading it in your local library if they have a copy).
