My MG4 replaced a Golf, and I've always seen them as being the same size.
Definitely bigger than the 2014 Golf that I have, feels like a size above - note that this may be due to the much larger interior rather than exterior.

I don't want another MG4 anyway, but everything of that class is too big for me: looking for a small second car.

Renault 4, good space without being huge vehicle, good effiency reports and flappy paddle regen and Google operating system.
Yes, it is appealing, seems to be better value than the R5 too.
P.S. Oh also one-pedal and 750kg towing (if that's of interest - t'is to me!)
Neither priorities for me, but good to know, thanks.

Apparently Renault made some significant improvement to the HVAC system/software on the R4, which will allegedly get to R5 via OTA update, but as standard the R4 has better real world m/kWh

Mine was a 2009 Golf, but you may be right.

My parents had a hire car jeep on holiday (hybrid) and liked it.

I know Stellantis have been pretty poor at EVs with their many-fuel-chassis approach, but the little jeep seemed to get a good write-up and I've seen good prices from Southampton Jeep.
