all-season tires

Outlander that got chopped for the S5 had Vredestein Quadtracs on. Excellent tyre, pretty quiet & had worn well. Debating getting a set for the S5. They were rated A for wet grip and even on slippery roads gave a great grip & feel.

All season tyres wouldn't stop you any more than summer tyres when stopping in the snow or ice unless you had winter tyres with studds on them they could help if you drive slow and sensibly and drive in as high a gear as possible in bad weather snow ice , you won't have a problem with summer tyres , yeh I agree with you regarding people with 4x4 they think they won't lose control in the snow or ice their living in fantasy land if they think that 😁👍
This isn't true. I have used M&S all season tyres for many years and have even swapped my MX5 tyres over when it was stuck unable to get me home. The tread pattern and "rubber" used can make a real difference. Some summer tyres are idiotically bad in cold weather such as Yokohama's. I haven't had a winter yet without snow and in my glen the snow stays even when just outside it has cleared. This isn't driving skill I have worked in Sweden and Germany and driven in alpine winters in France, Austria, and the USA so know how to drive in snow. Sure chains are required in some places and conditions but summer tyres are not as good as M&S all seasons tyres at low temperatures and in snow. I get there are some all seasons that aren't good in snow (Pirelli if I remember right).

Hi @all,

searching for a good all-season tire for my MG ZS Hybrid+ Luxury. The Kumho ia what my dealer came up with. what would be better alternatives¿ The test of the KUMHO by german ADAC is not that good ...

KUMHO 215/50 ZR18 92W TL
Solus 4S HA32 M+S 3PMSF
Reifenlabel: B/B/B|72
Z-Nummer: Z00519140

I have swapped to Crossclimate 2 on my MG4 and although they haven't seen score yet they are dealing with 2C driving very nicely including avoiding a car driving towards me at 2AM with no lights on in fog.

I only asked the question why go to the expense of changing over to winter tyres or all season tyres when you're summer tyres will be fine as we don't have long periods of excessive cold weather? Just my opinion, WE all know what happens when the first snow comes certain people think they can continue driving like there wasn't any snow or frost on the road next thing the roads are blocked so having all weather tyres or winter tyres isn't going to stop you being sat in a tail back waiting on a snowplough ,and I also know how to drive in extreme weather also 😉 just my opinion:

You're right there, it's normally OK when it gets a bit slushy, but I always seems to catch it when it's fresh snow and as soon as you hit some sort of slope you aren't moving on summer tyres. I reckon all seasons are ideal for the UK, and of course there is no tyre swapping required.
