Android not connecting new car/MG app

Hi, I am 2 days into my new MG4 Standard and it won't allow me to connect via Android USB, keeps saying to connect but I've tried 4 different USB's. The phone charges but I need my Google maps/ Spotify etc. Also the Mg smart app is not connecting......really frustrating. Any help or advice appreciated

Are you in the UK? (Your location suggests so). If yes then over here it is the SE SR rather than the Standard. (Albeit they are essentially the same, except the SE SR is RHD vs LHD).

Some phones can be temperamental with regards to the cable used. Some here swear by Anker cables (available on Amazon etc.)

And make sure you're using a USB A to USB C cable ... Android Auto only works when the cable is plugged into the left USB A port.

In my case I am now using a Wireless AA adapter ... when I need to charge my phone I plug it into a cable that is already connected to a 12V USB adapter plugged into the 12V socket.

To add to @siteguru 's post. Make sure the cable you are using is a data cable and not just a power cable.
