Step by step instruction for manual Android Auto update
- Go to your Google Play Store App, watch for your Apps and search for Android Auto. Press three points in the upper right corner and deactivate automatic update.
- On your phone go to Settings / Apps / all Apps / Android Auto. Notice Version and erase all Data. Now erase all Updates.
- In Google Play Store search for the App APKMirror Installer and install on your Phone.
- Follow the link to the APKMirror site:
Android Auto 15.0.653204-release (arm64-v8a) (120-640dpi) (Android 8.0+) APK Download by Google LLC - APKMirror Free and safe Android APK downloads
www.apkmirror.com
(on this site you will find other older and newer beta and official versions of Android Auto as well)
Here go to the blue button "Download APK Bundle" and start Download.
Open the downloaded File with the "App APKMirror Installer" - Android Auto version of your choice will be installed on your phone.
- On your phone go to Settings / Apps / all Apps / Android Auto. Check Version for new installed one.
- Try to connect phone with your car. If you see a wrong size of Android Auto in your cars Infotainment Display, press home button long and restart the Infotainment System (this should be necessary only ones).
- Android Auto should be working again. Ignore all popups on your phone that will force you to update Android Auto to the (faulty) latest Version.
This procedure is completely reversible by simply allowing Google Play Store to update Android Auto to the current official release again.
