At the end of my Tether with Tethering! (MG4/Samsung A12/Android auto)

Since the last Android Auto update 15.2.6536, the connection to the car no longer works. Communication error 11 and a red screen. Deleting all data in the app temporarily reinstalls it. The next connection attempt returns communication error 11 and nothing works. Car: MG4 Electric, model year 2024, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 11. Update: After installing a previous version (15.0.653204-release), Android Auto is working again. Every newer version does not work.
You will find a way to downgrade android auto to version 15.0.653204 here:

Please consider that you do the downgrade via apkmirror on your own risk.
thanks, i am pretty much a beginner with this level of IT, what are the risks please?

I'm using the former Android Auto version 15.0.653204 on my car, MG4 Trophy R40, without any problems. I don't see any risk but there may be bugs in the former version and you are not going the update way Google wants you to go. After first connection with the car I had to restart the infotainment System just ones by long press the home button just to get the correct view of screen size.
15.0.653204 from August 25 is no longer an official version and Android comes up with a Pop up that there is a newer (the not working) version. I had to disable auto update in the Google Play Store not to get the faulty updated version again. In my experience it takes time for Google to release new Bugfix updates and I'm not willing not to use android auto and wait for the next official update.

If you are reading the reviews for Android Auto in the Play Store there are more other users with different cars and different phone brands who experienced the same problem with the latest version. I tried various beta release versions even newer ones but only the old version 15.0.653204 works in my case with cable and no name Aliexpress Dongle as well.

Step by step instruction for manual Android Auto update

- Go to your Google Play Store App, watch for your Apps and search for Android Auto. Press three points in the upper right corner and deactivate automatic update.

- On your phone go to Settings / Apps / all Apps / Android Auto. Notice Version and erase all Data. Now erase all Updates.

- In Google Play Store search for the App APKMirror Installer and install on your Phone.

- Follow the link to the APKMirror site:
(on this site you will find other older and newer beta and official versions of Android Auto as well)
Here go to the blue button "Download APK Bundle" and start Download.
Open the downloaded File with the "App APKMirror Installer" - Android Auto version of your choice will be installed on your phone.

- On your phone go to Settings / Apps / all Apps / Android Auto. Check Version for new installed one.

- Try to connect phone with your car. If you see a wrong size of Android Auto in your cars Infotainment Display, press home button long and restart the Infotainment System (this should be necessary only ones).

- Android Auto should be working again. Ignore all popups on your phone that will force you to update Android Auto to the (faulty) latest Version.

This procedure is completely reversible by simply allowing Google Play Store to update Android Auto to the current official release again.
