I’m now past Fort William where I topped up on some Teslectrons. Up the side of Loch Cluanie one of these Omoda hatchbacks thought he would leave me. I switched through normal to power and easily blew him away so they’re not that good ( he / she’ll say they weren’t trying )

Just hooked up to a CPS charger in Kyleakin on Skye. I’m having a wander, a comfort stop and yet another coffee. It is an absolutely gorgeous day, a wee bit cloudy but leaving loads of holes for sunshine to poke through and light up the countryside.

Forty three and a bit to go. So that means at least 86 before I can charge again (without resorting to Granny).
The journey’s been excellent so far. I’m looking forward to dinner tonight.

I picked up a couple of wee lamb steaks in Morrisons in Fort William. Along with them I shall have fresh

asparagus spears and a tin of small potatoes ( not sure if I packed the tin opener - have you brought yours ?)

As you can see from the before and after pictures, the Berlingo vacated the drive at 10:21 this morning. The charger is locked off.

Ahh yes, it's like insurance, you buy it with the hope you won't need it.

Superb climb over the Pass of the Cattle. The new tarmac on the highest section is lovely, so smooth. It’s still very narrow between the hairpin bends so a steady foot on the electron (nee gas) pedal and accurate steering is the order of the day. From the very topmost elevation two things happened. The mist came around me quite thickly for a few hundred metres and regen became the order of the day. It was rather nice watching the retrograde guess o meter do its thing, my election pledge is to have 90% of hills be downgrades. I would say 100% but it really is special watching an ev get into its stride going uphill. It’s just so effortless it makes you smile. And out dragging an ice machine as it fumbles gearshifts and looses torque is very naughty but so, so fun. And don’t forget I’m driving a seemingly lowly converted goods van here, Jeckel and Hyde personified. It must feel so superior in an X power or Cyberster on similar with some added oomph
Ah at last the person in the next tent has turned over and ended the buzz saw impersonations.
I can perhaps stop rambling and get back to sleep, good night insomniacs wherever you are.

That looks like a mk3, the mk2 has a flat face (grille) and the mk3 sloped it a little.

But of course the Mk III brought the design into the new decade and had rectangular headlights with adjacent winkicators.

The same year the Escort Mk III was released, the next gen Mazda 323 was launched.

I always thought there was some similarity in their designs, from the rear end (albeit the "notchback" on the Escort is different) and the tail lights to the rear quarter design.

Only later did I discover that Ford had a stake in Mazda and wondered if there was a sharing of design ideas.
