Archev's adventures in the Berlingo

Thanks for provisionally sorting this out.
Sounds like it could be good.
Think MG EV ⚡⚡Club or Community. Would be a better name. But that's only my opinion. And you did ask. 😉🙂👍
Would that exclude people like @Archev and others that don't have an MG ? Would be a shame after he has done the groundwork :D

I’d still visit the stand - and eat your cake - and ask some stupid questions 🤩
Ooh can I request lemon drizzle cake please.

THEN retreat to the Stellantis EV ⚡⚡⚡️ club or community stand for the 3 course lunch and drinkies 😉 Nah nah
I shall of course be heading to the Hyundai stand after for the salmon and Champagne.

The belle Berlingo shows off her suspies and new spare tyre in its cradle as she gets ready to roll on Tuesday or Wednesday heading north west.

It's very clean under there @Archev 😎
Aye the seagull that visited after I sprochled about under there didn’t manage to cover the underside like he managed with my beautiful newly polished topside. Glad I was under the car - that bird must have been humongous I almost had to get a shovel moan moan 😝😣

It's a shame they can't use all that space under there for more battery. I'd be sorely tempted to get one when we go down to a single car in a year or two.
Aye although the quoted range on the standard battery is about 210 miles I think and I’m finding it’s pretty accurate. My preference is for the spare wheel. I’d like a frunk for the cables and jack etc. Other than that it’s got what I require.

I thought I’d put the roof box on the Berlingo so that if the tent is taken down wet I can’t how it up in the box an it saves the car being flooded.
Why is nothing straight forward any more. The roof crossbar feet on the box were not suitable for the the roof bars on the Citroen. The cross bars that carried the roof tent on the MG5 were too short to fit the Berlingo. I went in to Go Outdoors (after assuring myself that would be feasible 🤪) to get longer bars but of course I couldn’t get my favoured cheapo square bars. To get the length of bar to span a Berlingo roof I had to buy the fancy aerodynamic bars which I carried home triumphantly via IKEA where I endeavoured to have the salmon fillet their email boasted of for late lunch yesterday. However the serving lassie said I couldn’t on a Monday for some reason so it was meatballs, mash, peas, gravy and lingonberry jam. I’d have preferred veggie balls but, yeah none
So out today to fit up the roof bars and box.
Snag one I couldn’t find the box key. It turned up much later on an old key ring - good place that I should’ve started.
Opened the box ( should’ve kept the money hughey) and dismantled the clips holding it on the old cross bars. Of course during that exercise I noticed the bolts were the wrong size for those blessed new aerodynamic and broader bars.
Initiate futile trip to Falkirk followed by another to Linlithgow where suitable bolts were found.
Linlithgow was snarled up with traffic for the Marches day so traffic was interesting 🙁.
All going well, a photo of the charging Citroen proudly displaying its roof box might show up soon 🙏.

I understand your frustration. We've just swapped the o/h aging Suzuki for a 3 y/o e-niro. We use the roof bars for our kayaks. As we'd gone from raised roof rails to flush ones I thought 'simples' get the flush foot pack and off we go. But the foot pack didn't come with the fitting kit = more money, then I find out the foot pack doesn't fit the older style rails, and these are no longer available, so new rails need too - kerching! Just need to clean up the old rails and see if they'll go on eBay .

Gonna be a glut of rails on eBay 🤩

Roof box was fitted to the Berlingo yesterday.
We set off for westish with a wee bit of north added to aim for Oban and thence perchance to Mull. The forecast wasn’t the best so I turned the dial down a wee bit to Argyle or maybe the islands of Arran or Bute but the sun wasn’t playing properly today, or tomorrow or Friday. Again I modified my plan and bade the Citroen head west to Lanark where we joined the A70 through to Ayr.
As it was just after lunch time when we approached that wonderful place where ne’re a toon surpasses for Robert’s honest men and Bonny lasses I stopped at Dobbies garden centre. One of those Bonny girls suggested I could have an over sixty’s lasagna with salad and chips and a cake with my Americano coffee all for £12. It was delicious (except the chips - I give up on them after half a dozen)
Campsites seemed few and far between and all the prime lay-bys were busy all the way past Girvan and I turned inland at Lendalfoot after my Daughter told me to head to Mossyard near Gatehouse of Fleet. I’m now at the very fine (but a bit expensive) site there. After all that drive I haven’t bothered to deploy the tailgate tent tonight but will try it out tomorrow. I’ve decided to stay at least another night here before Granddaughter and her Mom fly in on Friday night.
Here’s a picture of the shiny ‘lingo with its 40 year old roof box on its new crossbars.

I left home on about 85% battery and topped up at Arnold Clarke’s new charger set up at their Peugeot place in Ayr. I’m sitting on it here at 55% and the power bank has only boiled the wee 1 litre kettle on the induction hob to make the hot chocolate. It set out from home at 100% so must still be over 95%.

A wee bit complex without instructions but a reasonable job for a first pitch on to the car. It’s six o’clock and I’m relaxing with a drop of French onion soup 👍 croutonless and devoid of cheese of any sort. I know, I advertised for that Sue Chef but she was unavailable for this trip 🙄
