I saw something like that on the climb up to the Loch Katrine viewpoint, but the tree had blown over as it only had a wee saucer of soil and it didn't have any roots to anchor it.

My first sighting of the deer earlier scared the heck for a wee split second. I jumped so it jumped - then we called a truce. I was eating a rather wonderful Gala apple at the time so I tried being nice and offering up the core, realising how stupid a speech about the virtues of apples was to such a creature. But I continued and threw the core down at its feet. Having chomped and swallowed it one look was enough to silently indicate it was nowhere near the price of lasting friendship. As the deer ambled over I found a couple of glorious yellow dandelions. They were plucked from my hand so gently I know a bond was made. I turned for a second to search for a bouquet to give my new pal but when I turned again there was only the trees and Applecross Bay in the distance. My new friendship was over.

When the vegetarian waitress at the walled garden restaurant later asked if I’d like the chef’s special venison tagliatelle I thought hang this is a set up.
But it was good.

The battery pack on my folding commuter e-bike is 168 wh (24 v, 7ah) if that helps to give a range of battery capacities.

Sounds about right for a small light bike that isn't going to have to go long bike rides.

Some great photos. I've seen trees growing out the centre of rounded boulders, the rain forms a pool and soaks in a bit, then freezes, opening a crack and progressively enough dirt builds up to grow the sapling tree, then the roots do the rest.
Still very impressive, plants in general are very hardy things ....

That describes the tree I saw by Loch Katrine. But the saucer of earth wasn't enough to anchor it when there was a bit of a blow.
