Auto vs EV mode, which is better?

I am a new HS hybrid owner, also first time EV user.
Any advice whether I should use Auto mode or EV.
My main usage is urban driving, about 10 miles a day mainly

I would suggest energy wise: use the ev mode.

For the petrol engine I would suggest: if U use mainly EV mode , try and use "auto" mode once a month , because an engine that is not running will break allot sooner when used. Also the quality of the petrol will not last, so don't fill it all the way up if you don't intend to use "auto" mode allot.

Just my thoughts....correct me if I'm wrong.

my practice is to run 2 miles on auto so the ICE is run each day and like you run on EV after that. In winter you will be running the ICE more to get heat to defrost the windows and warm the car up.

If you know your journey is doable within EV range, leave it in EV. For longer journeys set it to Auto.

No issues after 10K miles of doing that, long term average 65mpg.

Bear in mind this E10 p*** is hygroscopic, so in the winter months it will absorb moisture. Personally I'd add a fuel stabilizer if you are not going to be using much fuel.

E10 petrol is not going to be much of a problem also it’s a pressure system so water should not get in. I had some E10 petrol in the shed over winter no problem. But If remember right Awbugritt drive around with no heat on but you will find in winter it will start auto and will not go into EV unittil the engine is warm.

Your fuel tank, unless full, will have an air gap. Air contains moisture, therefore in the winter months the E10, and E5, for that matter will absorb moisture. Condensation is also another consideration.

I used to get icing problems on a motorbike in cold weather, where after a run at at 50/60 mph, when I shut down, the engine would stall as I learned to my cost on the M5 in lane 3! A fuel stabilizer cured the problem, added to which the octane rating was raised, and the engine ran cooler. However, I guess this would not be such an issue in your case.
