Not really it looked a bit boring with just a big black plastic panel so thought I’d liven it up a bit

Never had a V8 Ian but do miss the smooth rumble of my V6.

I've been under the bonnet more on this car than anything else in a long time. Just to top up the washers that only last about two months between refills.

So you haven't been checking the fluid levels weekly as recommended in the owner's manual?

I've been under the bonnet more on this car than anything else in a long time. Just to top up the washers that only last about two months between refills.

I top mine up well before the washers get anywhere near empty but it's nice to know it has a large enough capacity to last a couple of months.

According to the owner's manual the bonnet needs to be opened weekly to carry out the recommended checks.

Daily Check
• Operation of lights, horn, wipers, washers and warning lights.
• Operation of seat belts and brakes.
• Look for fluid deposits underneath the car that might indicate a leak.
• Check tyre appearance.

Weekly Check
• Coolant level.
• Brake fluid level.
• Windscreen washer fluid level.
• Tyre pressure.
• Operate air conditioning.

I'll admit I don't do the checks as frequently as the manual says but I do check the fluid levels and tyres when I wash the car which I do at least once a fortnight.
