Mysterious return of the dreaded BINGS & BONGS for no apparent reason.

Suddenly MG Custom Pilot wasn't doing it's job and I don't know why, steering tugging on lane keep assist and the awfully annoying bongs on over speed limit, despite being turned off in Custom Pilot.

I tried resetting Custom Pilot 3 times, but it didn't work, my only remaining options were a return to MG service dept. or DIY factory reset which I did and it worked perfectly fine, it was my 3rd or 4th time and is easy, but as mentioned here previously all settings are lost, but all can be restored in Custom Pilot in minutes.

It was strange just 2 of the many causes of bonging and steering GRAB decided not to work and the fact both appeared at the same time is a mystery.

Just for clarification, did your reset involve resetting only the head unit itself, or did it require a master 12 volt reset, achieved by disconnecting the negative battery terminal ?.

Just the head unit through factory reset, I have needed to to do a 12v reset before which needed disconnecting the 12v battery for a short period, but not necessary this time.
But why this sudden hiccup in the electronics I wonder ??

Bugs 🐜 in the system clearly at work 🤷🏻👎.

Yeah, I guess it's a modern take on woodworm in old timber houses 😂😂🤣
If the system was 100% fool proof and reliable, then they would not equip the unit with a reset button I guess🤷🏻.
Cars are computers on wheels these days, the rest button is the equivalent to the CNT - ALT - DELETE favourite used when things go wrong for no real reason.

I still occasionally use CNT-ALT-DEL. I guess many have either forgotten or never heard of it 😭😂

A few day's ago and shortly after the Factory Reset on my S5, I lost radio volume, it was really strange, as I could change radio stations, volume and swap between DAB and FM etc, but nothing could be heard, except the car next to us at traffic lights which could be heard inside our car. 😂🤔
As we were in Salisbury and very close to the excellent Penton MG dealership, I popped in to book an appointment with receptionist, I saw the very capable Darren and mentioned it to him, he immediately said, I may be able to do that now! He took the car to their workshops behind the showroom, hey presto it was returned fixed, he removed and replaced the 12v, which obviously reset the fault, I could've done it myself.
I forgot to ask how long it was disconnected, couldn't have been long as the car was returned within 10 minutes.
Time for me to show my wife the new S6 and the massive S9, both look superb, although the S9 is a bit silly for just 2 of us retired folks,

The S6 is likely our next car, but do we actually need anything larger? Yesterday we took friends out to a pub lunch in our S5, he is well over 6 feet and had plenty of room in the back and commented how comfy it was, but the white MGS6 with the light interior looked gorgeous, but a great deal of care would need to be taken, driving the car in my gardening clothes would be a definite no no. 🤔😂🚘

We tend to forget that we are driving computers and like our phones, laptops etc. they benefit from a hard reset.
