I've turned mine off as I've inadvertently set it off when unloading with arms full of greyhound and having to use my head to stop it, although not painful, it is inconvenient and not very dignified.
Hi Ian - I was of the opinion that the foot sensor only works when opening the boot and not for the closing feature.
This would explain why they provide a manual push button in the edge of the boot trim.
Placing it here means that when you reach up to press it, you are more likely to be standing well clear of the closing hatch.
Which makes good sense really.
I had my boot close and almost caught me out on the second day of ownership, while trying to reach inside and grabs some items from the back of the boot.
I just heard the beeping sound and retreated quickly.
I had opened the boot with the fob, then put the fob in my back pocket of my new jeans.
I assumed that the fob button had got pressed, when I reached inside to the back of the boot.
I have tried a couple of times to close the boot with the foot sensor, just to see if it does activate.
But when trying, I just get a long bleep tone warning sound, when attempting to activate the sensor.
I don’t think it’s intended to work for closing, only opening.
But I could be mistaken
