MG3 Hybrid+ Trophy
Hi everyone collecting my new Battersea Blue MG3 TROPHY on Thursday morning thought I would change my insurance over from my MG HS petrol to my MG3 rang my insurance company of many years Lloyd's and was shocked when they quoted over £1000 up from £500 for my HS I asked why such an increase they said my circumstances had changed because I had retired 3 weeks ago and the new car was a hybrid so I canceled my policy with Lloyd's and took out a new policy with Tesco,s costing £508 for a similar policy

Unfortunately there is no customer loyalty bonus from Insurance Companies, you did right to change.
Hi Clive I couldn't believe the quote it seems all of a sudden I was considered a bad risk because I have retired even though I will be doing less miles and I got the feeling they wasn't interested in the new car
Thanks for your prompt reply Steve

Hi the same happened with myself.
After spending 2 hours in chat with my previous Car insurer TICKER I was informed that they couldn't insure My NEW MG3 HYBRID+ Trophy Battersea Blue.
Went on go compare and got insured with the AA for £430.
A good result for me.

Well done enjoy your new car it seems to be a common thing with insurance companies these days, when I started driving I use to use a local independent insurance broker, they got to know you everything was face to face, it's a lot quicker by the internet, but maybe we have lost that personal touch

I am in shock. The ZS EV cover is up 20/5/25. I had already searched the Meerkats and the Opera singer in anticpation of the usual search the best offer game. The best offer was £300 which was pretty much what I paid in 2024 (£296) & that was for 9months on an 11 year old Polo plus 3 months with a new MG ZS EV.

Churchill the current supplier has come in at £266 including increasing the mileage to 6 k from 5 k.
That is for fully comp social domestic & pleasure, protected NCD plus legal liability at 67 with 9 years + NCD.

I'm off for a lie down.
