I was driving in this morning, using Waze on CarPlay, when the map went, over a period of a few seconds, from a bit fuzzy to completely broken up and illegible.
My first thought was that the screen had failed, but it worked fine on any other screen, such as the Home Screen. If I flicked from home screen to Waze, the map showed up for, maybe, two seconds then started disintegrating again.
I tried Google Maps and it was exactly the same.
I can't remember what inspired me, but I then tried unplugging the lightning connector on the phone. CarPlay reverted to Bluetooth (I can't remember whether it did so automatically or if I had to force a reconnect) and everything was fine.
I did actually need Waze, so I didn't try experimenting with plugging the iPhone back in, I just continued to destination.
This evening I used Waze to get home on the wired connection and it was fine and dandy.
So, whatever it was, was transient or intermittent, and I have no explanation, but I only write this in case anyone else sees it, to stop them panicking that their screen has died...
