Anyone else considering ceramic coating their IM5?
My previous MG4, which I'd had ceramic coated, was handed back to the bank at the end of the three year PCP period. The vehicle examiner who came to collect it, told me that he assumed from it's condition that it was new and unused. That convinced me to get the IM5 treated. I decided to get the glass and interior treated as well.
Buffs up well, doesn't it 😁. Of course s*&t happens - on the way home a quarry 8-wheeler lorry splashed mud and crap all over the front and off-side of the car . Luckily, it washed off nice and easily!

I have to thank Andy at ABC Detailing (Thornbury, near Bristol) for a great job at a good price.

Looking good. Love that Colour. 🙂👍

Maybe listen to this before spending all that money - BBC Radio 4 - Sliced Bread, Car Shampoos and Coatings
Well, quite apart from the fact that I have already spent all that money, as I mentioned I chose this route because of personal, positive, experience of it on my previous car.
Just to add weight to that, a relatively near neighbour of mine had (well, still has actually) a volcano orange MG4 of similar age and colour to the car I had before and its paintwork looked distinctly flatter that that of mine. I will qualify that though, by adding that although his car was almost exactly the same age as mine, he had covered 50% more mileage.
I don't know what cleaning regime he used on his, but I have to admit, I probably only washed the car twice a year, the last time in preparation for its collection.
At the end of the day though, it's down to the individual's choice, and honest opinions from personal experience is hopefully useful.

As I said, I have had detailing done in the past. However, the results long term have always been variable. My wife’s X1 was done about 8 years ago and I think I can still see some benefits now. My 2 previous cars were detailed but although they looked great at the start any benefit was unnoticeable after a year or so. After listening to that Radio 4 programme I am reluctant to shell out £800 ish for it again.

Being a bit of an amateur detailer, partly because I am totally obsessive about keeping my cars perfect (!), I think it's important to mention the requirement for a proper wash technique.
There are plenty of videos that explain the two bucket method, grit guards, snow foam, lambswool mits, PH neutral shampoo etc etc, and then when finishing off apply a quick detailer products which helps preserve the coating.
Most after getting their car coated go to the local car wash. Given they will use harsh detergents to clean the car, over time they will effect the coating, and as they are far less than careful, will leave the car paintwork with swirls and fine scratches.
I am at the extreme end (although there are plenty 'worse' than me), but it can take a day or two for me to wash my 'big car', using a whole range of different products and steps!!!!

You don’t want to end up like me. It starts to take over your life!!😳😳
A few pictures of my big car following just such a wash - I need to check it under strong artificial light as well aarrgghhh…!!!!
Still my cars always make a great buy for the next owner - my big car a Genesis Electrified G80 (pictured below), is three and a half years old, and is always the case, unless it looks brand new I feel I have failed!! And don’t worry I am in therapy!!!😳😳

Thanks...thanks to the badge design, and that the head of design at Genesis used to occupy the same job at Bentley so perhaps stole some styling ideas, most think it's either a Bentley or Aston Martin. I'm not complaining considering it cost half the price!!!
