Good evening, and apologies for the late hour....!!!
I'm charging the S5 overnight....just checked the Ohme App and it's telling me it's charging at 7.03kW.....unheard of!!!!
My MG4 never charged higher than at 6.95kW.

Is this normal??? I have an Ohme Home Pro charger, and the S5 is specified as the car being charged. I removed the MG4 from the list.

Sorry if it's a dumb question, but i read somewhere not to expect more than 6.95kW from a 7kW charger......

Thank you all for the reassurances....I was just mildly surprised to see the charge rate hit over 7kw when it never did for the MG4.

A slightly annoying thing over last night's charge....it is only registering 99% according to the iSmart app. This means that there was no battery balancing.

I did try to add the 1%, but the Ohne app wouldn't let it happen....either because I didnt get out of bed at 4am to pull the cable out and reinsert, or because Ohme thinks my car is at 100%.

Factors here....I have pushed all maximum charge limits to 100% in car and on the iSmart app.

It may ve because the car is still very new. It's going on a long trip this eve, so I shall run the battery right down before charging again.

Or does anyone think there's a battery problem here.....??

That could just be a rounding error...
Granted, i have not seen this myself yet. If i have it set to charge to 100% then its been at 100% when i entered the car..

I wouldnt worry too much about it unless it becomes a recurring thing, then i would ask the dealership to run whatever diagnostics they can to see why it happens..

It did not balance because the pack is brand new did not need it !.

Aren't single phase EVSEs with 32a usually capable of taking in up to 7.4 kW, albeit you get less going in the car with the losses through the device and the in-car inverter losses ?

I think ours does 6.6kW after the losses, 6.95kW before hand so the same as you were getting previously.

I have our car set only to charge to 80% SOC from our "dumb" wall.
I want to take every advantage of the 5 hours of cheaper "off peak" electricity.
Last night, it only hit 72% SOC because it stopped the charge at the preset finish time, it hit this before it was able to reach 80% SOC.

this ^^^^

Chargers will charge at a specific current. And, from Watts law, we know that P = V x I (power = volts x amps). So variations of power delivered via an EVSE will be a linearly related to grid voltage, which itself could be as low as 216V and as high as 253V, though more commonly around 240V in the UK.
