Has anyone had a weird clunking noise which a kind of scrape every now and again from the front wheel. I can't see anything and it only just started. Like a cable or a twig hitting the wheel. And clunking at random. Not in a rhythm. But there's nothing hanging beneath the car and nothing I can see obvious in any of the front wheels.

I had this a couple of weeks ago on my drive home from work. As suggested above, it was a stone stuck behind the brakes. It was so loud when driving it sounded like something under the bonnet was about to explode! I called the AA via MG assist and the patrolman removed what he said was the biggest stone he had seen in this situation from the front nearside wheel.

Had the same problem. Awful screaming noise, quite embarrassing. MG ASSIST gave a few instructions to dislodge the stone to no avail so AA came out and solved it . Sounds like it's a common problem.
