Recently, my 2022 ZS EV has developed this fault each time reverse is selected, even with no obstruction behind or approaching hazard. Any ideas why?

We had a Suzuki that had a faulty reverse sensor that would beep after rain, sometimes for days. No reverse camera so no indication of which one, IIRC some silicon grease cured it.

Thanks for your reply. I suspected something obstructing the reversing camera, but I clean it regularly and the "fault" has only started very recently. Maybe a faulty sensor, I'll keep an eye on it for a few days before seeking dealer advice.

Mine started doing this just this week. I wiped the ultrasonic sensors and that seemed to clear it.

P.S. Did it again this morning. I'll try wiping them again tomorrow, although there has been a lot of rain lately so I don't know if any water has got into one of the sensors.

I think it's normally a fault indication. Are there no messages coming up?
No, nothing so far.

When mine did the same I found it was the car begging me to wash it ;) So guess its just the sensors needing a wipe
Thanks, did help to some degree. I'll make sure I keep them clean.

Yes, I think the poor weather recently has not helped. I've cleaned them all round and will keep up the routine.

From the manual:

Mine beeped for the whole time it was in reverse, which was more than 3 seconds. It has been fine today.

The reversing camera has nothing to do with this, its one and only function is to show you an image of what happens behind the car.

There are a number of ultrasonic sensors, that measure the distance to obstacles and if it is a trophy (The equivalent to the luxury here) it has RTA (Rear Cross traffic alert, this function uses the 2 radars, mounted on either back corner of the car behind the "fender", if you reverse and it detects something crossing it will beep and even brake the car.

Its going to be either dirt on the sensors, a faulty sensor or as someone suggests, a sensor leaking so that it will fill with water.

We had one of those on our vauxhall, every time it had rained heavily, we would have it beep for a few days, while it dried out.
