Contributors League Tables

I'm not sure about the contributors league tables that have recently appeared on the forums. I'm worried that it might encourage a proliferation of meaningless postings just to get to the top of the respective tables.

This happened on one of the Facebook groups I'm on where a person just posted controversial comments to become the number one contributor before disappearing from the group.

And how can banned members still be eligible to be listed?

Right I'm just off to practice creating drivel.
Who said I don't need any practice 🤣
It also seems a bit odd that people who have made hundreds of posts are suddenly banned, what's going on?

Which people would that be? There are only 2 banned members in the top 20 and they only have 104 posts (messages) between them. You need to go to page 5 (top 81-100) to find another with only 8 posts. 🤷‍♂️

(Looking at their locations I'd suggest that there may have been some Russia/Ukraine "banter" that crossed the boundaries of forum etiquette. Edit: they were spammers as per Clive below).

The ones showing in the 'Top Creators' list are all recent spammers (mostly Russian), who sneak in through the middle of the night and start loads of new threads. Obviously we need to tweak, or remove this list.

Or as on some Facebook groups the first couple of new thread postings by a new member have to be approved by admin.

Yes, I moderate a forum for users of software by a manufacturer of video and audio editing products. All would-be new members have to have their first post and their subsequent full membership approved by a moderator before that post is visible to anyone other than the moderators.
