I asked MG Customer service whether the regeneration strength resets to low every time you restart the car (was I missing a setting) and if so were they considering upgrading the software to correct this. The response was "It is recommended that you take your vehicle to a MG dealership for a diagnosis," I have replied advising that was a useless answer and could they do better. It's a shame that MG don't seem to properly look into customer comments - do others on this forum have similar experiences? It's an issue that published car reviews haven't addressed.
My own part solution is to set the lower right hand steering wheel favourites button (the star) so a press moves the regeneration braking level up one - so two presses get into my usual strong state. Easier than delving into the screen once I have started driving.

Unfortunately several members have had issues with MG Dealers and Customer Services, it seems to be the MGs biggest failing, also, unfortunately, the brake regeneration resets to level 1 every time you power up.

If it helps, if you activate one pedal driving it will be saved, unless you go to sport or comfort driving mode.
When you turn on the car it will remain active on normal and you can go directly to custom mode as well, only if you cycle to sport or comfort it will disable it.

Opd is just using the go fast pedal. Take your foot off and the car slows down. If you do it right, the car will come to a complete stand still

I know how it works, I use it all the time, and I understand why some people might prefer not to have strong regenerative braking. The bit I am trying to understand is why someone might want strong regenerative braking, but not OPD?

Sorry,

note to self. must read the message properly

OPD slows the car to a stop. My question is, how "heavy" is the braking/regenerative braking using OPD. My MG5 has three levels of regeneration. It defaults to the middle setting (Level 2) If I am in town, I sometimes use Level 3 but if I am on a motorway I do not wish to have heavy retardation so set the car to Level 1.
Can you alter the regeneration level using OPD? Apart from having to actually put your foot on the brake to STOP the car, I am unsure what the benefits of OPD are?

No, you can't. I think it's the same as RB3.

I actually can't see why you wouldn't want it to go to a full stop, though...

I like R1, and it was annoying when the MG4 defaulted to 3 every time I got in the car.
Allows a lift and coast experience, maxing out the regen at -5... and more importantly not lighting up the brakes every time you decide to take your foot off the accelerator.

Need more than -5.... then the break pedal will increase the regen. (I think the break lights come on at -7?)

Sorry you miss my point. I was wondering at what level the regenerative braking is set if it is not adjustable in OPD. The fact it stops is not an issue it is the force of braking I was more interested in.

Our MG4 defaults to level 3.
To me it feels about the same as OPD. But if you're in L3 and change to OPD while driving, the car noticeably slows a bit.
My wife is fine with level 3 but won't even try OPD.
She wants to drive like a "normal" car.

She can see I love OPD and I use it all the time, but she is not prepared to even try something that different.

I love it because the drive is much smoother, with fine control of the go pedal, there is no interruption of the smooth flow caused by changing from the go to stop pedal.
No big deal, it's just my preference.

I've tried OPD and hated it, I like the strong regen but find stopping the car difficult to control with OPD.
