My car flashed a message "Engine Emissions Malfunction Warning Consult Handbook" and I get a yellow engine light on.

Checked handbook which states:-

"After the vehicle has been started, the light will illuminate to indicate an engine emission malfunction. Continuing to drive may cause damage to the catalytic converter. It is recommended to stop the vehicle as soon as safety permits and turn off the start switch. After the vehicle is started, The lamp flashes, it indicates a serious engine misfire fault. Please stop the vehicle as soon as possible and turn off the start switch under safe conditions."

Any one else had this? Seen it raised in other MG threads but not for the ZS Hybrid+.

So, spoke with dealer and car booked in for Friday. Also called AA and had two call backs saying, they see this a lot. The sensors are very sensitive and unless its flashing then its safe to drive. The light should go off after a day or two, if not book it in with the dealer.

Fingers crossed it goes off as it a pain to go back to the dealership.

I know that at the MG3 Hybrid, a not properly closed fuel cap can cause that warning, and has been a not so rare occurrence there. Wonder whether this might be the reason at the related ZS as well.

Thanks mick78, read about that issue but not related, however its resolved itself. :D

On the fifth start up, the light and warning are no longer present. Car was driving fine with the warning, I normally drive in Eco mode but drove in Normal and Sport all working fine but on the 5th start up, equivalent to a couple of normal days stop/start driving, lights stayed off, just like the AA technician said.

A couple of short drives later today and if all good will cancel the booking with the dealership. Personally don't like orange warning lights on cars, previous car used to do that when within 3 weeks of annual service.
