I was talking to my service department boss yesterday.
about this over-revving business, and he explained that the engine and gearbox are not always tied together as in a normal ICE engine, and that there is a coupling that disengages it, so when you nail it or are going up a steepish hill, all it's doing is charging the EV battery.
Now, whilst that sort of makes a certain amount of sense to me, I've not found it mentioned elsewhere yet.
