I had an issue last weekend where I parked up for the night after having no issues, next morning went to go out and got an EPB fault along with a number of issues relating to the brakes.
It wouldn’t release the brakes so I couldn’t drive anywhere.
I called the AA who were going to send someone out, but their technician called me back first.
I was told to put the ignition on, stomp on the brake pedal 10 times then turn off the car for 20-30 seconds, turn on the ignition and use the button to release the handbrake.
This worked perfectly and after a couple of times in drive, then park it was fine, apparently an imbalance in the resistance of the brakes caused this and is a common issue with EPB systems.
I thought I would share this in case anyone else has this issue.
The technician advised to call MG if it happens again.
