Error indicator on dash

My MGS5 arrived yesteray - quite impressed. However, when I turn off all the lane departure and emergency functions, I get the icon for

The lane keeping assist function has detected a fault..

I turn them back on, and the icon goes away.
Does anyone have an idea what's happening?

Tried this again today - same issue. I would expect this to show up when the systems are turned on and there was a problem, not when they're turned off.

If you're referring to an orange icon which looks like the car is skewed across the lane, then it could be similar to what I had in my Volvo XC40. It also illuminated if it was unable to detect the white line Lane marker.
I viewed this indicator as 'LK Unavailable' rather than 'LK Fault' .
On the XC40 the dashed line indicated which side the white line was undetected. ( a pain in the aris when joining/leaving a motorway)
XC40 Fault indicator was red.

Sorry if this is wrong, but isn’t it normal to have some sort of warning that Lane Management is off/not working when you manually switch it off? I get an amber warning light in my MG4 when I switch off Lane Keeping Assist on minor roads.

If it's off, I'd expect it not to show a warning, particularly when the narrative in the manual is The lane keeping assist function has detected a fault.. It's not a fault if it's deliberately turned off, it's only a fault if it's on and finds a problem. IMHO, of course

I agree with you that the manual is not particularly good in places, and probably started life as an updated version of the manual from another model. For example, the on-line manual mentions the sun roof operation and shows a glasses storage case below the rear view mirror cluster.... I don't know if these are optional/fitted in other countries. But in this case, it appears that this particular indicator operates as per previous models and just a slightly careless description in the manual.

My S5 is equipped with sun roof and a glasses storage case below the rear view mirror.

Mine is the same. I suspect it's to remind you that it's off. I leave mine on but set to "Alert and low" I'm not sure if it comes back on automatically when you start the car, if it doesn't then I think it's a good idea after all it might not be you driving it next time and without the warning they be expecting it to on. It's the same for the forward collision system. I still think it's a great car, and far better than my face-lift MG5 which I had for 2 years.

Hi all I've notice this fault icon and if I turn the lane system on the fault colour light disappears. My opinion is that it is merely a glitch in the program and instead of showing the fault colour it should show the turned off colour. No doubt it will get updated sometime but not a major problem once I realised what was happening. Happy days its a great car. John.

Yes, same here - I do find the ride a lot firmer than the MG5, though, and not always in a good way ;-)

Check your tyre pressures. Mine came at 43psi all round and should have been 37, once reduced it was much better although I agree it's a firm ride.
