One could argue that radar doesn't cause the problems with software, and I'd feel less confident about the safety systems without radar if they can't get the calibration to work on the MG4. You'll just get more blind spots in addition to the false positives. They can't win. The MG4 has front radar and they get complaints that it's too sensitive and stops the car dad in its tracks for no apparent reason. They don't put it on the MGS5 and they now get complaints that it doesn't have phantom braking.
Just as a side note since 2021 new Teslas don't have front radar.
Tesla can also suffer from phantom braking issues if the user reports are correct, and I won't be surprised if radar and lidar return. Like the indicator stalks!
