Frozen Mornings

I guess the car cover would need heating, some form of extra low voltage element weaved through it and possibly pulsed at a frequency determined by the vehicle surface temperature .... possibly zones pulse one after another and skipped if the temp is above freezing in that zone ......

Anyone looking for a product to develop and market?

Or you can afford the luxury of a garage or underground car park. I have this privilege here and was able to park in a multi-storey car park at work for years. I really appreciate it! Even a simple carport is a big help!

A simple carport made from solar panels and one side and end blocked off, with a door would still be fine, reduces the cold air circulating around the car so the freezing should be as bad.
A concrete walled garage will heat up in the sun or under the solar panels, and hold this warmth over quite a long period, the thermal mass being so much greater than a tin shed ....

Mine was frozen as well when it was that cold a few weeks ago (West-Europe). Windows were frozen, I had to take my other car. I was able to defrost everything using the app, and didn't need a reset / battery disconnect. This happened twice during that period. I ordered "Liqui Moly Gummipflege" to avoid this, but haven't applied it yet as the car is not with me right now.

Hello @Morph, Because the problem is with the horizontal seals between the car window and the door, I don't think it's wise to smear/spray/rub anything on them. Your entire side window will then be covered in the stuff when you open/close it. The rest of the door seals can certainly be cleaned, but they're less necessary.
 
Tip of the week for everyone ❄️: Take a sturdy plastic bag and fill it with hot water. Rub it over the edge between the window and the rubber seal. Once the ice has thawed, you'll be able to open the doors without any problems. So don't try using the remote control or doorknob first, as that will freeze the system and you'll have to reset everything. Here's to summer! 🌞
 
Off topic. If my car catches fire, please let it burn to the ground. Insurance will get me a new one. Insurances are stupid. The Cyberster keeps new value for 4 years, that costs me like € 100 extra per year. My Tesla looses 1% value per month, starting month 13 of ownership. Too much difference between the market value and the insured value if you ask me. After almost 4 years, the Tesla market value is around € 27k, insurance value € 44k. Don't be surprised that some people take advantage of that..
 
This morning, again a problem opening the doors. The outside temperature is -1ºC, there's no snow or ice buildup ❄️ on the windows, but both doors refuse to open. This is maddening, to say the least 😡. Applying sealant to the window seals isn't an option; your entire window will get covered in it. Any effective solutions are welcome.

I treated all my seals with rubber care product before winter. Now the doors and windows no longer freeze shut. However, at temperatures below -5 degrees, the door only opens a little and I have to open it by hand because the gas spring next to the drive is too weak due to the cold.
 
I just took my Cyberster to MG to fix my doors - especially the driver door is super annoying and never works as soon as the temperature is below 3-4 degrees celcius. It only opens up 5-10 cm and the only way to get it fully open is pressing and holding the outside button on the door or do it manually. It's super frustrating.

MG sent me a video saying they had fixed the problem by recalibrating the doors - however, that was while the car was parked insiden their shop. When I picked it up - after being parked outside for a couple of hours - same problem. I went straight back to the dealer and they said they never seen that issue before. Now they are in dialog with MG to fix the problem - hopefully they will.
 
An (important) update. I just got off the phone with the dealer. Apparently, it's a known issue with some cars. So MG has a fix - they will replace the radar and 4 sensors. To me, this makes - at least some - sense, because every time the door won't open I get a message in the dash saying something like, Beware of the distance when opening the doors. What I don't understand is why this is only an issue when it's cold outside :-).

The parts needs to be shipped from the Netherlands - that takes 2-3 weeks, then the sensors have to be painted and everything installed. Hopefully it fixes my problem, but I probably won't find out until next winter, because... :)
