Grinding/ Scraping Noise from MG5 LR

Afternoon all. I've just had the most horrendous grinding/ scraping noise coming from my MG5 LR. It appears to be coming from the wheel area so possibly brake discs? The car is nearly 4 years old and had no real problems with it so far, fast wearing tyres aside. It started out of nowhere about 3 miles from home. Has anyone else had a similiar problem?

Possibly just a stone that's got caught under the brake disc?

Almost certainly a stone between the disk and backing plate. I've never suffered this on my MG5 but have seen it on other cars. One method of freeing it that always worked on my Ford Focus was to drive in reverse on full lock.

Yep - about 20 years ago... was stone (as already mentioned)

Thank you all for the replies. Hoping it is just a stone. I've tried a few methods to displace it, with no luck so far. I'll try reversing at speed with the full lock on tomorrow. Kinda looking forward to that one!

Should be visible if you jack it up and remove wheel - then remove it with a pointed stick or similar.

Thanks everyone. Problem solved. The reversing trick didn't work but going full lock (or as full as I could safely manage) around a large roundabout did work.
