Have you noticed fuel prices going up

On an episode of Mythbusters, they put filtered, used cooking oil in a deisel truck without any modifications and it ran fine.
Yeah, but in the cold weather, there will be viscosity problems. As far as the heaters, an unknown, I think I'd be converting it to bio fuel to remove the parts that could be a problem when burnt to an ash ....

I used to put it in my 1990 Montego DLX estate, with a 2.0 Turbo Perkins Prima based on the old O series. BL made the engine bits, shipped them to Perkins and Perkys put them together in their factory

It ran perfectly. Not a single complaint. And used oil was dirt cheap. Even the new stuff straight off the supermarket shelf was cheap enough. Miss that car terribly. Mechanically it was sweet, but the bodywork sent it to the scrapyard in the sky. 180K it did on the road.

The engine made it onto a houseboat on the Bridgewater canal in Sale.

If I ever come into lots of dosh, I'll find one and buy it.

Not a houseboat, a Monty Diesel Estate!
Watched a You Tube video and tannic acid to stop rust dead in it's tracks, I'll see if I can find it.

Tannic acid is the active ingredient in commercial Kurust (along with maybe phosphoric acid and a wetting agent), converting (mechanically speaking loose) Fe2O3·xH2O to compact (and mechanically speaking adherent) Fe tannate.

Engineer's (i.e. well-stewed) tea can have the same effect 😁

As we drove through Mannum tonight, the diesel was up to $2.59ltr, it won't be long before it's knocking on $3.00 ltr ...... the last time we saw prices like that was in the little fuel stations between the major stops travelling across the Nullarbor travelling to WA, designed to catch those that only have small fuel tanks .... every one of them would get us travelling in this Winnebago V10 6.8 ltr, it would take 7 fuel tanks full to just get to Perth at $600 each fill .... but I expect it would be even more expensive now ......

Local Sainsburys filling station today ... Petrol 132.9, Diesel 144.9

Local Gulf filling station today (which is often the cheaper of the 2) ... Petrol 134.9, Diesel 156.9
And today the Sainsburys is 153.9 for diesel (according to Facebook - I've not looked myself. Edit: I passed it this afternoon .. 153.9 indeed, and petrol is 136.9).
