Have you noticed fuel prices going up

Our local oil club has quoted £1.22 plus vat. I’d rather freeze🤬🤬. When we getting this “help”🤔
Half the £53m will go to a 'mate' of someone in the government to work out how they will distribute the money and the rest will go to people on UC arriving in august.

In fact, it's down the road to where I used to live opposite the famous Griffin Pub.

Have I mentioned the Griff yet?
Never heard of it 😁

Sainsbury's at Cheddesden in Derby prices are 137.9 unleaded, 149.9 super unleaded, 157.9 diesel.

Whereas the profiteering Shell garage nearby are charging 143.9 unleaded, 169.9 super unleaded, 162.9 diesel.

Super unleaded is more expensive than diesel ..... unusual ..... LPG is at $1.07ltr in Mannum and $1.05 in Murray Bridge at the moment, a difference of $4.25 for tank fill in the Winnie, think I'll shop local so they continue to stock it .....

Curious isn't it as the fuel comes from the same refinery regardless of forecourt owners. Only four left in the UK refining and supplying petrol, diesel and jet fuel.

Sainsburys: P = 138.9, D = 158.9
Gulf: P = 144.9, D = 165.9

Which all goes to prove that "Good fuel costs less at Sainsbury's" ;)

My local Sainsburys also does Super Unleaded, but they don't advertise the price on the big signs. (No idea if the Gulf does SU). As I never need to go into those places anymore (except when refilling my diesel bus as part of my part-time job) then I've no idea what the price may be. :)

BTW ... in the UK standard Unleaded is 95 RON, and Super is either 97 or 98 RON (depending on supplier).

Shell V-Power is 99, I think. There used to be V-Power Racing in Europe at 100 Octane if you want to spend even more money go even faster !

That helps explain the higher prices, standard unleaded over here is 86 RON, E10 is 91 RON, then they have 95 and 98 and in select service stations E85 is 105 to 107 RON used by the crazy performance engines like the Bathurst Super Sedan engines and the Nissan Gonzilla engines and wild Ford Turbo 6 cyls .... after that it's methanol and then Nitromethane ......

V Power was only 95 octane and 98 octane at best, the rest was hype with no backing.
BP with methylbenzene was the corker ... there is no such thing as methylbenzene, that is just a made up name, it was actually Toluene, but it does sound so good when you say they are selling you low octane fuel with paint thinners added

Historically, toluene was used, but it was replaced with acetone or ethyl acetate.

Toluene obviously has toxicity issues...

Bit like how women don't slap make up made with arsenic, mercury or lead on their visages anymore!

E10 over here is still 95 RON (as far as I know) .. it was previously E5, still 95 RON, but they increased the Ethanol content (which was rumoured to be bad for cars with certain types of rubber fuel hoses). It seems that E5 nowadays is the Premium unleaded (Super) option at 97-99 RON.

Aye - we should - and do 🤭
I do admit to a little smugness watching the Chelsea tractors pulling into the petrol station and pulling out again when they see the no diesel sign. I did draw the line at pulling in in my EV and filling a can for the mower though.

With the weather improving slowly I took my large comfy sleeping bag to a local filling station the other day. Only because it won’t fit my washing machine and they have a large machine and a drier to match. I sat and watched in amazement as these poor souls slavishly drew in to the various machines before me and dispensed the required liquids into their cars. I attempted to guess how much and calculate what the total might be when multiplied by the huge figures on the signs. I gave up because my mathematics became so unwieldy and my depression intensified. That is until I remembered I filled the Berlingo the night before for 82 pence. And lo - the world was a happy place again and very soon I shall be adventuring with the tent etc once more.
I was drawn to a Hyundai emporium today and inspected an Inster. Very nice - very small - very cheap - grand 240 ish range and Vto L available Mmmmmmm ? I do like the e Berlingo though 😍
