I agree not the best position for a charge point.
I am guessing the provider chose the most convenient and least expensive position without thinking about the practicality of EV charging.
At least the cable is not causing a trip hazard for pedestrians whilst providing excellent practice for limbo dancers!

Yeah I think I'd do the same if no other chargers were available or nearby.
