Heated steering wheel

I'm an old guy, what's wrong with string backed gloves? šŸ˜Ž
No point in running the battery down, or forcing the ICE to start, when there are more eco alternatives.

Can't use the touchscreen, then. šŸ™‚

Regards,

Old Guy

I can't say that I've noticed a problem, I'll take note later today.

It's really annoying when you've only had the vehicle for six months. Wireless AA isn't that important to me, nor is 2VL, but I would have liked to have had the steering wheel heating.
It probably won't be that easy to retrofit the steering wheel either.
I got my mg hs phev in December and came with wireless AA and a custom button so just one thing to set when you start off and no bongs while driving.

Just for info
7⁰C this afternoon so didn't really need the gloves but no problem to operate the steering wheel buttons or the infotainment screen.

I am picking up a new car on Tuesday, it was on board a ship at the New Year, it will be interesting to see if it has a HSW, but I am not holding my breath.

Got the new car. It has USB C’s front and back, wireless Apple Car And Android Play and a few other software changes, but no HSW.

The dealer didn’t have an answer why not, no doubt it will evolve and a sunroof would be good too, even at a cost.

Bit peculiar having to select reverse first before the front parking sensors work, but you get used to it. All cars have their own foibles.

Overall, I am happy enough with it, just need to get a 7kw charger now. The Grannie charger is a PITA.

No it isn't, you're correct, but the Hybrid+, the Plug in Hybrid, and the Petrol versions of the HS are basically the same car apart from it's engine/motor.
I'm of the understanding that all full Hybrid + Hs Trophy models have the heated wheel but not all PHEV models do.

In reply to ā€œcarnoc’s post.
I have a 32A EVDANCE charger from Amazon. It has a 32A ā€œcommandoā€ plug, which of course has to be connected to a 32A socket. However, I’ve installed one in the garage, and it all works fine. Charges the car to full in the 5 hour slot.
The other advantage is that British Gas offer Saturday and Sunday 11 - 4 half price electricity. So the car gets charged, and the washing machine etc. are all very busyšŸ¤—.

Your post got me thinking and I thank you for that.

It’s a good idea, but how do you get round the fact that the installation should be completed by a suitably qualified Electrician?

That apart, I used to have a dedicated 32a cable from the Main fuse box to an electric shower. They have to be on a separate electrical system as you’ll know.

I replaced it with a Scandinavian hot water boiler which is a pressured system and gives me mains pressure instant hot water.

Anyway, I decommissioned the old electric system, but left the wiring in place. I am pretty sure it wouldn’t take much to reroute the cable to an outside socket and put the power to it via a commando socket. Problem solved.

I’ve already asked British Gas for a Smart Meter, but they aren’t exactly rushing about trying to help. I don’t suppose my rural location helps, but it would be good to connect up the Evdance system, which would lead to shorter charge times.
