IM5
Just a short intro - thanks for letting me join. I've had my IM5 about 3 weeks now, I originally wanted the LR version - but refused to pay the govt luxury tax extra of £400 from next year for 5 years - that's on top of the standard £195 it will be next year - so I opted for the standard range. I am an OAP from the West Midlands but feel fairly tech savvy for my age. This is my 4th ev, I do have niggles/questions already, but I really do enjoy the IM5 in all aspects and have no regrets from purchasing one. I've attached a couple of pictures of my car in Nevis Blue.

Anyway I will post my own niggles and any questions - are there many people on here owning IM5/IM6's? - are there any knowledgeable people who are ok with software niggles/issues on the IM range? - hope so, of course if I can help anyone with my 3 week experience of being an IM5 owner I will.
Thanks again. 🙂.

Hi, first I had the Hyundai ioniq 5 - then switched to a Renault Scenic E Tech [Big mistake - only kept it for 4 months] - then I went to order a MG IM5 - but was told there was at least a 4 month wait - so I bought the MGS5 Trophy and requested should they get an IM5 must be in Nevis Blue, to let me know. I did 149 miles in the S5 Trophy and went on my hols and while I was away they contacted me to say they had the above car arrived and the order had been cancelled - so of course I said yes as it was the car I originally went to MG UK for.

Sorry for rambling but you did ask lol. I have attached a picture of the Trophy I had for a couple of weeks. This means 3 of my ev's were all this year, but hopefully I'll settle with the IM% now.

What colour interior?

I had the only cancelled order one that was on offer - in Shades of grey - but after previously having very light interiors I'm not sure if I would have purchased it if it had been the white interior - saw too many reviewers when following the IM5 waiting for their arrival in the UK [from about July 25] and they all were knocking back the white interior for getting mucky and grimey very quickly. But that's just my preferential choice.

I have had my Ioniq 5 with white interior for 4 years and it is dirt and blemish free, despite the dog and golfing equipment! Onlyever needed to wipe lightly with a damp cloth.

Ha ha, yes I did ask, there was me thinking you probably started your EV journey 15 years ago with a Nissan Leaf, but it looks more like a brief 2 or 3 year trip. I'm still impressed though. 👍

I'd definitely have the Nevis Blue, if I ever got an IM5, but for me personally, it would have to be the White interior, but that's just me. As you say, it's all about personal, preference. Whatever the interior colour, it's a bloody lovely motor. 🙂👍
Also, unless I waited for at least 4 months - I had no option for white, I've not seen one in white [not live anyway] but as stated earlier, I still think I'd have gone for the darker interior. As you said just a matter of choice. 👍.

I bought the E Tech Ionic so I could still have a panoramic roof - but from day 1 no way would the car connect to the My Renault app. Emails, Phone calls to Renault uk, Renault France - and I mean loads! - Main dealer visits - long waits etc etc - eventually after some months of not connecting - Renault UK and FR both came back and said sorry the will not connect to the app because of incompatibility issues and there was no software update to fix the issue. I found an Actis Solution which they said was not available yet in the UK! - also not once did the car charge at all with Octopus IOG and just kept in a deep sleep. The only way to charge was for me to stay up until 11.30pm, bump start the charge on max - then get back up at 5.30am to stop the charge, that always put in 45%, but being a pensioner I did not want to live doing that forever - so now I'm back to setting the car anytime I want to and leaving the charging at off peak rate to Octopus and the Ohme charger - IM5 absolutely flawless with charging - coming on and off with differing schedule charging times no matter what time I go to bed or get up.
